Nestled between I-440 and The Nations, just a few minutes southwest of Downtown, you’ll find Nashville’s cozy Sylvan Park neighborhood. This area offers a mix of “old Nashville” and new, with plenty of lush green spaces, beautiful homes, and locally-owned restaurants. It’s a peaceful pocket of town, but it’s conveniently situated near bustling corridors that offer just about anything else you could want. Here’s your Sylvan Park Nashville guide!

*Because West Nashville’s neighborhood boundaries are hotly debated, we’re mostly sticking to the lines defined by Google Mapswith a couple of sneaky exceptions.

EAT + DRINK

Sylvan Park’s dining scene is characterized by longstanding, locally-owned eateries packed with regulars and bustling weeknight happy hours. But over the last year, the neighborhood has welcomed some exciting newcomers: Tantísimo‘s Latin-American fare, fine dining at Lion’s Share, Edley’s expansion into tacos, and cozy wine bar Antoinette’s.

  • answer. is a beloved destination for neighborhood regulars, serving up reliably delicious, hearty fare like pasta and burgers, plus seasonally-inspired menu items that rotate throughout the year. Their happy hour is a favorite — Monday through Saturday, only at the bar.
  • Antoinette’s Wine + Provisions is the latest addition to Sylvan Park’s roster. Antoinette’s is a wine bar with ample indoor and outdoor seating, a dog- and kid-friendly backyard, and a market stocked with plenty of pantry and gift items.

  • Bobbie’s Dairy Dip, located at 5301 Charlotte Avenue, has been offering up soft serve, hot dogs, burgers, and fries through its walk-up window since 1951. It’s a nostalgic operation, so they don’t have an active website or social media, but ya can’t miss it!
  • Caffé Nonna, a Sylvan Park institution, claims the title of Nashville’s oldest Italian restaurant. Since 1999, Caffé Nonna has been serving family-favorite recipes from Chef Dan Maggipinto’s own “Nonna” — Esther Carapella.
  • Edley’s BBQ is a must-try for barbecue lovers. Slinging barbecue classics and sides every day of the week, the Sylvan Park outpost has a large bar and patio, perfect for connecting with friends.
  • Edley’s Tacos is the latest venture from the Edley’s team, located right across the street. Their menu is super straightforward and delicious — pick your protein, pick your style (classic, grilled, or birria-style), and load up on toppings at the salsa bar!

  • Hattie B’s is your destination for “Nashville hot” in Sylvan Park. During the warmer months, you can load up on hot-as-you-can-handle chicken and sides, then wander next door to Bobbie’s Dairy Dip to cool off with a soft serve cone.
  • Lion’s Share is a welcome addition to West Nashville’s food scene, housed in a new build in the lot formerly occupied by McCabe Pub. Diners can expect elevated favorites like oysters, steaks, and caviar service for dinner — and burgers and fries at the bar on Sunday and Monday nights.

  • Lola is a breezy Spanish tapas restaurant owned by the team behind beloved Lebanese eatery Epice, located in 12 South. Stop by for their nightly happy hour, and enjoy half-price bottles at the bar on Mondays.
  • Miel is a beloved farm-to-table restaurant known for its seasonal menus and elegant French-inspired cuisine. Dishes like saffron-poached shrimp and duck leg confit earn a loyal following, while weekend take-home suppers, special classes and events, and The Barn (a private event space) offer even more ways to experience this local favorite.
  • Neighbors Sylvan Park first opened in 2011 and has since expanded to a favorite local chain with five locations. Loved by locals, it’s a great spot to order a beer and your favorite bar fare while you watch the game. (They also host Ballad Bingo on Tuesdays and Team Trivia on Wednesdays!)
  • Park Cafe is a cozy, classic American eatery offering weekday lunch, weekday happy hours, weekend brunch, and dinner every night of the week.
  • Star Bagel is the area’s most bustling breakfast spot, offering bagels, breakfast sandwiches, coffee, smoothies, and fresh juices by Nashville Roots Juicery. They also offer deli sandwiches, wraps, and salads come lunchtime!
  • Tantísimo is a Latin-American eatery inspired by local, seasonal offerings. Snag lighter café fare at lunch service on weekdays, brunchy fare on the weekends, and dinner Tuesday through Sunday. It’s a great date-night spot, and they even host occasional Latin dance nights, so keep an eye on their social media for event updates.

  • The Ridge offers classic BBQ fare with both Southern and Mexican influences. You’ll find ribs, fried catfish, burgers, nachos, wings, loaded spuds, and more. They have an upstairs bar, too!
  • dose. is technically just over the Sylvan Park “border,” but it’s worth a mention as a go-to coffee spot for neighborhood residents. (There is also a great wine shop next door, Grand Cru.)

SHOP

While you’re exploring Murphy Road, the main corridor of Sylvan Park, don’t miss these three fabulous retail spots:

  • Elle Gray is stocked with a colorful collection of women’s clothing and accessories.
  • Import Flowers primarily offers wholesale and special orders for weddings and other events, but you can also shop a beautiful selection of flowers in the shop!
  • The Produce Place claims bragging rights as Nashville’s oldest natural, local grocery store. You’ll find locally sourced baked goods, gift items, and of course, plenty of gorgeous produce.

STAY

Beyond charming Airbnbs and nearby chain hotels, Sylvan Park is home to its very own boutique inn — Sylvan Park Boarding House. The property features eight uniquely decorated guest suites, cozy common areas, and breakfast provided by neighboring eatery, Tantísimo.
