Wow! This month saw four new locations of some of our favorite eateries – and a beloved local macaron-maker has a permanent home at last. Happy eating, Memphis!

Flame Ramen

Neighborhood: Downtown

More info: Instagram

Authentic ramen in the heart of downtown? Yes, please! Local favorite Flame Ramen has opened a second location on Second Street. Satisfy your cravings for dumplings, bao buns, rice bowls, and of course, ramen in this fast-casual concept. Although the menu is simplified from the midtown location, you’ll find Flame Ramen’s signature rich broth-based hot bowls – perfect for chillier weather.

French Truck Coffee

Neighborhood: Edge District

More info: French Truck Coffee

Memphians love their coffee! The third French Truck Coffee location has opened in the Orleans Station development – the perfect spot for the New Orleans-based company, conveniently located between the Edge and Medical Districts. As always, the menu offers artisan coffee, locally roasted in small batches for the highest quality brews. Favorites include the New Orleans Iced Coffee, a delicious concoction of coffee, chicory, and milk shaken together and served over ice. You’ll find lattes, cappuccinos, chais, Americanos, and more. If you’d like a little nosh to go with your beverage, try a yummy pastry, or order from the tasty breakfast or lunch menu – both are served all day.

You can also purchase bags of coffee to enjoy at home. French Truck says this offering is a washed Caturra, with bright notes of sweet citrus, melon, toffee, and milk chocolate. Yum! Image: Facebook.

Los Comales

Neighborhood: Edge District

More info: Los Comales

Los Comales is now bringing an authentic taste of Mexico to the Edge District. The second location of the restaurant offers more seating – including a fun rooftop area. You’ll find a wide range of mouthwatering fare on the menu, including a rotating selection of daily specials. Locals love the enchiladas, tostadas, chimichangas, fajitas, tacos, quesadillas, and burritos, made with a variety of ingredients. Pair your meal with a top-shelf margarita and save room for dessert!

Plant Based Heat

Neighborhood: Downtown

More info: Plant Based Heat

Plant Based Heat is the delightful restaurant that changed our view of how Southern comfort food can be prepared! Founded by former radio personality and entrepreneur Ralph β€œRJ Groove” Johnson, Plant-Based Heat brings their healthy, vegan, and totally delicious menu to downtown. Try one of their burgers – you’ll never miss the meat – or an order of β€œVings,” vegan wings in a variety of flavors served with dipping sauce. The service is outstanding; you may even get a chance to chat with RJ himself!

The Sift Bakery

Neighborhood: Bartlett

More info: The Sift Bakery

We just can’t get enough of The Sift Bakery and owner Lonisa β€œLala” Bowen! (You can read more about Lala as a FACE of Memphis here.) The bakery is known for deliciously elegant macarons that combine delicate texture with Lala’s flair for unique flavors. This time of year, you might find Sugar Cookie, Christmas Cake, Hot Chocolate, and Candy Cane macarons alongside Strawberry, Lemon, and Birthday Cake. The new permanent brick-and-mortar location allows Lala to create other sweet treats as well. You don’t want to miss the freshly made cinnamon rolls, pecan bars, puff pastries, tarts, cupcakes, and more mouthwatering specialties!
