Surrounded by more than two acres of private woodlands in Vestavia is a sprawling, family-friendly house looking for its next owners. Only about a mile and half from Highway 280 but with total privacy, this property has space in spades, and at more than 7,000 square feet, it’s an entertainer’s dream. “We’ve had some large gatherings here — up to 200 people,” says the current homeowner. “But the comment that people always make when they first come see it is that it’s a very warm and inviting place, even though the square footage sounds large.”
A long driveway leads to the front parking pad, with brick pavers and professional landscaping installed in 2014 by Doug Travis of Liberty Environmental Contractors. Here a walkway leads to a stately front door framed with limestone surround.
PinThe front entrance boasts prick pavers and a parking pad that were added in 2014, as well as the landscaping done by Doug Travis of Liberty Environmental Contractors.
Inside, a grand entrance hall with soaring, two-story ceilings sets the tone for the listing’s stately nature. But continuing on inside, one will see that though some of the rooms are large, there’s still a cozy feeling to be found. The formal living room, with a beautiful 12-foot coffered ceiling, flows nicely into the kitchen and family room. This main level also boasts a dining room, breakfast room, and laundry room as well as the master suite, which has all the bells and whistles one can expect to see in a home of this scale.

The interiors were professionally designed by local decorator Becky Umphrey, so the house comes with neutral paint colors and fine fixtures and finishings. “The attention to detail is one my favorite things about this house,” says the homeowner. Light fixtures and some custom window treatments will remain with the house, as well as kitchen appliances and the outdoor grill.

Down there you’ll find a basketball goal, and just beyond that is the backyard.
The back of the house is one place that really makes this property sing, with a flat, expansive grassy area next to hardscape featuring a hot tub, firepit, and covered porches. Luckily for anyone yearning for a pool in the Alabama heat, the landscaping was purposely mapped out with a spot already suited for one.
