If you want proof country artist Kelsea Ballerini has some of the most loyal (and creative) fans in the business, here it is. They’ve turned a birthday celebration into a lifeline for Nashville’s four-legged friends. Instead of sending flowers or streaming her song “Dibs” on repeat, Kelsea Central (the unofficial headquarters for all things Kelsea Ballerini) launched the Dibs Forever Home Fund at Pet Community Center, Nashville’s nonprofit veterinary clinic. Think of it as the ultimate love letter not just to Kelsea, but to her dog, Dibs, who’s been facing down cancer with the kind of grit only a pup could muster.

The idea is simple but powerful: raise money so local dogs can get the care they need, even if their families are strapped for cash. We’re talking vaccines, spay/neuter surgeries, microchips — all of the stuff that keeps tails wagging and owners from having to make heartbreaking choices. And here’s where it gets even sweeter. A generous donor has pledged to match contributions up to $10,000. That means every dollar raised works double time. (In dog math, that’s like 14 dollars. Give or take.)

Pet Community Center already serves more than 15,000 animals a year, and their sliding-scale fees ensure no one gets turned away. But the Dibs Forever Home Fund takes things a step further, covering costs outright for families in need.

Kelsea Central has made philanthropy part of their yearly birthday tradition, but this one hits especially close to home. “Our love for Dibs is as strong as Kelsea’s,” says Jenna Starosta, co-founder of the fan group. That sentiment doesn’t just honor a singer and her beloved sidekick; it sets a standard for fandom: community-driven, heart-centered, and a little bit bark-happy.

And let’s be honest, who among us hasn’t wished we could celebrate our birthday by helping dogs live longer, healthier lives? Cake is great, but saving pups? That’s forever.

Donations to the Dibs Forever Home Fund are being collected through October 9, which also happens to be the night of PCC’s annual Fur Ball gala. It’s the kind of birthday gift that keeps on giving long after the balloons have deflated and the DJ has stopped spinning tunes.

So if you want to celebrate Kelsea Ballerini, honor Dibs, and maybe rack up some good karma with your favorite canines, you know what to do. Nashville’s dogs (and their humans) will thank you.
