Rustic Meets Romance in This Texas Hill Country Wedding

When it was time to say, "I Do," native Texans Megan Huff and Miles Langerman headed for Texas Hill Country. Camp Hideaway in Fredericksburg delivered the perfect mix of rustic charm and romantic elegance to the couple's big day. Image: Allison Jeffers Photography

“In the right place at the right time.” That’s how Megan Huff describes a chance encounter that changed her life. During her senior year at Baylor University, the San Antonio native was in an Uber heading home from a group dinner when a friend invited her to the popular Waco hangout “Austin’s.” Although a night on the town wasn’t in Megan’s plans that evening, she agreed — and fate took it from there. “That one decision changed everything because that night I met Miles,” she says happily.

Miles Langerman, a Texas Tech grad, had returned to his hometown of Waco to work for a local engineering firm and be closer to his family. The Texas twosome hit it off right away, and after their first dinner date, they knew something was different. “That evening, over good food and easy conversation, we both realized something special was starting,” Megan recalls.

February 1 will forever hold a special place in Megan’s heart. Not only is it her late father, John Huff’s, birthday, but it is also the day Miles asked her to marry him. A little more than a year after that chance first meeting, Miles proposed in Vail, CO, surrounded by both of their families.

He presented her with a ring set with diamonds from the ring John had given her mother, Lisa Gilliland, when he proposed. “I grew up going to Vail with my family, so it has always been a special place to spend time together,” Megan explains. “From the location, to the ring, to the exact day, every detail was so intentional and special.”

That attention to detail carried over into the November 1, 2025, wedding. Megan and Miles (affectionately known as M&M) turned to wedding planner Emily Remy of Hill Country Bride to create the perfect Texas celebration. That started with finding just the right venue.

Megan, who grew up spending her summers in Kingsland with her family and attending Camp Longhorn in Burnet, knew she wanted something that highlighted the majestic beauty of the Texas Hill Country. When the couple discovered Camp Hideaway in Fredericksburg, it was love at first sight.

“The Hill Country has always held a special place in my heart,” says Megan, who was drawn to the venue’s large open windows, natural light, and sweeping views. The unique accommodations, including luxury yurts brought in from South Africa, allowed guests to stay on-site for the weekend. “Camp Hideaway truly checked all our boxes,” she says.

Once the site was secured, the fun began. Megan’s outgoing personality and love of simple, elegant style set the tone for the occasion’s overall theme. “The wedding truly reflected my personality by blending a classic, timeless vibe with fun, personal touches,” she describes.

Those touches included a wedding crest, featuring the couple’s monogram surrounded by bluebonnets (the Texas state flower), prominently featured on everything from the invitations to the bar and even the cake. Other signature elements included personalized M&M’s, drink koozies, and limes branded with the letter “L” to add to the bride’s signature Ranch Water cocktail.

The celebration kicked off Friday night with an outdoor Western-chic rehearsal dinner catered by Chuy’s, complete with all the Tex-Mex classics from sizzling fajitas to creamy queso, and of course, rice and beans.

The Western theme continued the next day, but it took a decidedly upscale turn. The bride and her entourage turned Camp Hideaway’s on-site ranch house into their own personal salon.

Bridesmaids lounged in pink monogrammed pajamas and sipped from personalized bottles of bubbly as their hair and makeup were expertly tended to by Erin McReynolds and Alley Tuttle of Salons by JC.

The girls then slipped into their dusty pink gowns from JJ’s House. The bride opted for a customized Pronovias halter-style dress with a large bow in the back, which closely resembled the one her mother wore on her wedding day. “Great minds think alike,” Megan laughs.

Sounds of the Terra Vista Strings filled the air as Megan and her stepfather, Kip Gilliland, made their way down the aisle. To her “new” dress, Megan added her mother’s diamond earrings for something borrowed, and carried her grandmother’s linen handkerchief for something old.

As for something blue? “I had a medallion made with my dad’s photo on it and tied it with a blue velvet ribbon to my bouquet,” she says. “That way, he got to walk down the aisle with me.”

And what an aisle it was! Flowers by Viridian Design Studio, in a palette reminiscent of a South Texas sunset, graced the entrance to the outdoor space, enhancing the natural beauty. Colorful petals led the way to the altar, where a large cross, festooned with more florals, rose majestically into the overcast sky.

“It was put together by Miles’s little brother, Jim,” Megan explains, adding that the groom’s sister, Hannah, had used it in her wedding. “It was a meaningful piece of their family that became the centerpiece of our wedding ceremony.”

Once the “I do’s” were said and a kiss sealed the ceremony, guests mingled outside, enjoying elevated appetizers from Cartewheels Catering (including artichoke-and-parmesan crostini, tomato-basil soup sips, and chicken-and-jalapeño poppers) before heading into the venue.

Once inside, they were greeted by an array of exquisite, eye-popping florals spanning the tablescapes. Large and small arrangements covered every available surface, including the four-tiered vanilla-bourbon wedding cake bearing the couple’s crest, which was created by The Painted Cake in San Antonio.

Guests sat down to a Texas-inspired feast that included fire-roasted petite beef tenderloin with a port-shallot demi-glace, honey and thyme pan-roasted airline chicken with cider beurre blanc, mashed potatoes, and baby green beans with pancetta and shallots.

Wine flowed, and guests lifted champagne glasses to the happy couple, who shared their first dance to “Tennessee Orange” by Megan Moroney. The bride explains that she chose the song because, if you changed the lyrics to Texas Tech, it would perfectly sum up their relationship.

“You would have never caught me dead in Texas Tech colors before I met him,” the Baylor grad jokes. “It was just a really special song we shared between us from the start.”

As the night wore on, the party escalated as the bride emerged in a short, simple, strapless white dress from Anthropologie. She laced up her tennis shoes to “boot scoot and boogie” the night away as Turntables Over Texas kept the energy high.

Guests donned LED cowboy hats and hit the dance floor as they two-stepped, twirled, and captured fun memories in a black-and-white photo booth from mirmir.

As the party wound down, the bride and groom headed to a getaway golf cart while guests waved sparklers into the starry Texas sky. For Megan and Miles, the wedding was the culmination of everything they love about the Lone Star State and each other.

“I wanted something fun, unique, and that captures the vibe of our relationship,” Megan says.
