INTERVENTIONS: Karen LaMonte

Step into a world where fabric floats without a body and glass feels impossibly weightless as renowned American artist Karen LaMonte brings her ethereal sculptures to INTERVENTIONS at Cheekwood Estate & Gardens, on view March 14 through May 31, 2026, Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Made possible by the Sandra Schatten Foundation, this fifth-year arts initiative activates the Mansion’s historic period rooms with LaMonte’s celebrated Nocturnes, Etudes, Floating World kimonos, and paradoxical Cloud series — delicate yet powerful works in glass and metal that explore drapery, light, and the absence of the female form while reflecting and refracting light throughout the space. The exhibition invites visitors into a striking dialogue between contemporary sculpture and historic decorative arts, revealing both presence and mystery in every fold.
