With several new developments set to open in the coming months, 2025 promises to be a banner year for Birmingham. From a revolutionary childcare company and a brand-new amphitheater to an exclusive speakeasy, here’s the scoop on what’s coming to the Magic City this year.

Moxi Childcare

Neighborhood: Homewood & Downtown
Opening: Spring/Summer 2025
More Info: moxichildcare.com

An innovative childcare company will open two multi-use childcare centers in Birmingham in 2025. Moxi is the brainchild of Cori Fain-Forrest, a Birmingham native and childcare teacher turned startup executive, who became frustrated by her own experience trying to find childcare as a parent. She designed a model for high-quality, flexible childcare that supports modern families. “We know that life isn’t always flexible but wanted to build a model so that childcare can be,” says Moxi COO Maria Underwood.

Moxi’s flagship center in downtown Birmingham will open in June. Located on 1st Avenue North, it will offer coworking spaces, a complimentary coffee bar, a fitness center, showers, a mother’s room for nursing and pop-in infant care, and childcare facilities. The Homewood location is set to open in April and will also offer coworking space and a mother’s room.

Maria explains, “We want parents to feel like they can be close to their kids if they need to, but also have the opportunity to take care of themselves.” Whether you need full-time childcare or a few drop-in hours to work, run errands, and exercise (including evenings and weekends!), Moxi has you covered.

Also coming to Urban Supply in 2025 is Fairway Social and its speakeasy, The Lodge. Fairway Social is a full-service restaurant and bar centered around interactive sports simulators and live games. In addition to golf, you can play various virtual sports games with your crew (including zombie dodgeball, if you dare) in your own gaming bay.

While Fairway Social promises fun for all ages, its exclusive speakeasy, The Lodge, will take the night to the next level. Only accessible with a secret passcode, guests will enter the speakeasy through a hidden entrance and enjoy handcrafted cocktails and whiskey flights in an intimate setting with duckpin bowling, live music, and vintage charm unique to the Magic City.

“Parkside’s vision to become a walkable, entertainment-focused hub aligns perfectly with our vision for this concept,” says Brian Harper, COO of Competitive Social Ventures, which owns and operates Fairway Social and The Lodge. “We are excited to share this experience with Birmingham and believe it will become a favorite in the community.”

Located on 3rd Avenue North, just one block from the Alabama Theater, The William will offer a unique boutique-styled living experience in the Magic City.

“At The William, we will offer a new level of convenience, experience, and concierge servicing to both short-term guests and long-term residents,” says Property Manager Karley Rae. Residing in one of the most walkable areas of Downtown Birmingham, developers prioritized keeping the historical elements of The William intact, which was originally built in 1905. Karley explains the small number of residential units is intentional, saying, “Residents at The William will be more than just a number, with each resident receiving more personalized attention.” Amenities will include personalized cleaning and laundry services, private mixers, and easy lunch and dinner deliveries from Carrigan’s using a QR code exclusive to residents.
