Fall is a great time to switch up your beauty routine and try out some new products. We polled some of our past FACES of Birmingham to find out their go-to beauty products. Here’s are 8 secret weapons!
Interior Designer Betsy Brown favors Bobbi Brown’s Beach Perfume. The scent is light and clean with hints of jasmine, sea spray and orange and will have you reminiscing about summer’s carefree days any time of the year. Find it at Gus Mayer.
Pat Ryan, of the Jefferson County Library Cooperative, loves the fragrance of lavender in her linen closet. “I am allergic to many fragrances so I really enjoy opening the closet door to lavender.” We love the scent of lavender, too. You can make your own sachets or pick some up at Three Sheets.
Kathy Mezrano of Kathy G glams it up with Lancome’s Le Crayon Khol Eyeliner in Black Lapis. The intense pigment is smudgeable and creamy, so it goes on smooth, but delivers lasting results. Find it at your local department store.
Interior Designer Jan Ware is addicted to Buxom Full Bodied Lip Gloss. They have amazing colors and feel good on your lips. The formula promotes hydration and plumping — without the annoying tingle effect — through encapsulated hyaluronic spheres and special moisturizers. Find Buxom products at Sephora.
Architect Cherrie Pitts never leaves the house without Dior Addict Extreme lipstick. “It has lasting power so it’s perfect for long work days in the studio.” Available at Sephora.
Lydia Pursell, stylist and owner of Leaf & Petal, says SkinCeuticals Phloretin CF does amazing things: erases sun damage, diminishes fine lines and wrinkles and wards off cell damaging free radicals with just a few drops a day of this broad range antioxidant serum. Available at TMB Skin Clinic.
Chanda Temple swears by Chanel’s Inimitable Mascara. This intense pigmented color adds length, volume and separation in just one swoop, giving you an instant eye opener! Find it at Gus Mayer.
Tracy James of Chic Made Simple says people are surprised when she tells them she’s a drugstore makeup girl and always has been. “I don’t like to spend a ton of time doing my makeup in the mornings, so a product I love is an eyeshadow stick in a neutral shade. My current fave is Rimmel Scandal Eyes shadow stick in Bulletproof Beige. It makes a daytime subtle smokey eye a snap! I cover my lid then generously line my lower lashes. A quick swipe of darker brown liner on my top lid right at the lash line and a coat of mascara and I’m done!” This looks like a great neutral that would flatter many skin tones. Find it at your local drugstore.
We hope we’ve inspired you to try out some new products this season!
