Fall 2016 update:
We tend to think of fall as anything after Labor Day as football is in full swing, the nights are usually cooler, the sky bluer and all the kids by this point are back in school. But, it’s been hot and almost hazy, so we are looking forward to the promised cooler days that await as sweaters, flannels and boots patiently wait to be worn … Personally it’s a bittersweet fall as my oldest is in her senior year, and that means I’m dealing with a lot of “lasts.” My last birthday with her under our roof, our last fall break trip as a whole family … it’s enough to make me tear up if I think about it too long.
At StyleBlueprint, we are excited to launch some new initiatives and we’re thrilled that our new email is arriving every morning. Have you noticed the four stories in addition to the main article? This way, you still have your main daily story, but some options as well. It may be a great house on the market that we walk you through, or it may be a recipe or a list of best sushi restaurants in town. We hope you like the added content as we surely love providing you more ways to connect to our community.
We launched our first t-shirt collection and just got another large order in, ready to ship. So, if you haven’t ordered your SINCE 1920 t-shirt, please do! It’s a positive message reminding us all of how recently a woman’s right to vote became law, through the 19th Amendment, just 96 years ago. They are $32 and every woman needs one! Shop here.
And, we’re hosting our first dinner party! It’s the StyleBlueprint Italian Dinner Party and there are just 34 seats. Tickets are available here.
Have you downloaded our SB APP? The SB Beets have me completely hooked. I’m looking each and every day as they showcase reasons to shop in the community that very day: a trunk sale, happy hours, new merchandise, pop-up sales and more. Check our SB Beets and tell us what you think!
This October, look for great stories, like this one from TriStar, as well as haunted happenings and more.
As the bustle of the season gets going strong, let’s make a pledge, shall we? We are going to stay positive and encouraging; we are going to support our community; we are going to remember that at the end of the day, we are only human and there is only so much we can get done (and give ourselves the grace needed to accept that!). Also, we are going to tell our friends to subscribe to StyleBlueprint!:)
Thanks for reading!
Summer 2016 update:
Surviving May is hard for anyone with kids … and for parents of young ones, I’m breaking some bad news to you: the older the kids, the harder it gets. Personally, we had a 6th grade graduation (requiring a change of schools), middle school graduation (requiring a change to the other side of campus) and my junior became a senior, and there were special ceremonies about that as well. With this, birthdays, Mother’s Day, social gatherings and parties all took place with gusto, along with sports tournaments, half days at school and special awards banquets and field trips. The amount of caffeine I drink each May surely outweighs the rest of the year, combined. But, as my kids get older, I also cherish each and every moment with them as I’m more and more aware that a silent house will be here before I know it.
And now, we have summer …
Summer is the perfect time to get out and enjoy Nashville. The nights are longer the laid-back vibe beckons us to take a road we haven’t taken before or try a restaurant we haven’t been able to try. Stroll a street and walk a little more than you intended. Drive to a different neighborhood and see what this different part of Nashville is all about. Shop a boutique that you’ve always intended to go, but simply haven’t had time. Have a salon give your hair a fresh blow out and add some beachy waves … just because! Have fun as just as quickly as summer seemed to get here, it will be gone. Cherish it and every salty rimmed glass that the season brings you.
Use our StyleBlueprint App to keep up with local sales, events and for your best tried and tested guide to neighborhood shops, services and restaurants. We’ve also got the best interior designers, home resources, party planners and more, so it’s your perfect guide as a local or as a tourist … or being a tourist in your own city!
We’re getting ready to launch a new email format that we’re excited about, so stay tuned … it’s been a long haul to get here but we see the goal in sight! Other things to look for: more neighborhood guides, more restaurant reviews, more articles to keep you informed on this fabulous city and the people who make it up!
We’re ready for summer and we’re excited about all the articles we have waiting for you. Thank you for reading!

Nashville is experiencing the most beautiful spring I can recall. It continues to display itself with daily drama that brings tears to this writer’s eyes. I don’t recall a spring when Tulip Magnolias, Red Buds, Cherry trees and Dogwoods all lasted this long and all popped up with such seemingly choreographed synchronicity. While the cold kept spring flowers at bay later than usual, when it finally sprang, it’s been one for the record books. That said, it’s been difficult to write from behind our office windows, with the sound of the air conditioner fan whirring from above. To combat the spring fever jitters, we moved the office for a day to my house and we had another day where we dedicated 90 minutes to walking the Nashville greenways. My point is this: don’t let these magical days get away from you simply because spring also brings a hectic calendar. Embrace it. Find a patio at a locally-owned restaurant and eat outdoors, go for a hike, find a waterfall close by and walk to it!
We are about to enter May and we’re getting prepped here at SB. We have our first ever live-model fashion shoot for What to Wear coming up (previously, we’ve handled all What to Wears on mannequins) and we’re dedicating the entire article to dresses: dresses for Steeplechase, weddings, graduations and casual spring get togethers. Stay tuned!
We’ve had a real focus this spring on supporting some events here in Nashville about which we love to scream from the rooftops. We’ve partnered as a media sponsor with Nashville Fashion Week, The Nashville Film Festival, Symphony Fashion Show, Power of the Purse and Listen to Your Mother. And those are all on April’s calendar alone. Nashville is a city that is only getting busier!
In the meantime, get outside. Soak up some vitamin D before the mosquitoes are everywhere!
Hello 2016! (Even though it’s February!)
February is when my New Year’s resolutions begin. I’m not sure about you, but while I love reading about all the organizational and health goals everyone sets on January 1, I just can’t get my arms around it until February. The days are too cold and too dark in January. But February … it’s a month of hope (longer days), love (Valentine’s Day) and discipline (for me, that’s Lent). The convergence of these three things makes February a much better month for me to goal set for the year. Similarly, as a company, we also needed a month to firmly state our goals for this year:
As a company, we have bold plans for 2016.
For our local businesses: We are purposefully bringing new tools to you, our local companies, to help you thrive. We know it’s hard as a small business to wear so many hats. We plan to help you even more this year and allow you more time to do what you do best: run the best company you can! We just completed digital marketing seminars in three of our markets and are looking forward to adding more tools and educational opportunities as this first quarter of the year unfolds.
Expansion: We are actively interviewing for our SB Charlotte Editor job. We have opened up our social media networks in this market and we can’t wait to have a local presence with boots on the ground. Charlotte is a thriving southern city and our goal is to reflect the small businesses, people, and style that make this city unique and fabulous.
Look for other city expansion announcements this year as well … we are excited!
Readers: We have slowly added more content to StyleBlueprint, some of which doesn’t even reach the daily email. Follow us on Facebook for additional articles and click around to see what you may be missing. One thing we are proud of are our new photo galleries. We are highlighting two events each month with a photo gallery to better showcase our fabulous cites. Here in Nashville, we’re just getting rolling with these. Now, in addition to our What to Wear article each month, which features three events with three different suggested outfits, we will have two photo galleries showcasing the people of Nashville at some of our amazing events.
And, remember, only email subscribers receive our SB Weekend, sent each Wednesday afternoon which highlights five to seven upcoming events, delicious dishes to order at local restaurants, and three gorgeous homes currently on the market. It’s underwritten by Landmark Bank and we’re so grateful they make this product possible as it’s a reader favorite.
SB App: Our SB App continues to evolve and gain users. You can now find local events, the best nearby restaurants and businesses, our SB Beets (daily highlights with reasons to shop local like discounts, new shipments, trunk sales, happy hours and more) and access our content straight from the SB App! Need a new place to eat, a haircut, a builder or an interior designer? Yes, we cover it all! Open the SB App and see what’s close by, where to go this weekend, what sales are going on and then click through to our content and see relevant articles for your everyday! It’s your local companion app—for your local everyday—and we hope you love it as much as we do!
And for February? It’s Wedding Wednesday month, so get ready to see some gorgeous ceremonies and read their love stories each Wednesday this month. Plus, there is so much more good stuff … !
Above all, thank you for reading. Our #1 goal is to provide great content for our readers to give them a little “me” time everyday, connecting them to their community a little more deeply, one article at a time.
One of the most exciting months in Nashville is October and it’s finally here! If you love football, you can enjoy the cooler nights at high school games on Friday nights, at college games on Saturdays and at Titans games on Sundays! And, yes, other events are going on; in fact so much is happening that it’s hard to keep up! Be sure to check out our list of top monthly events and our bigger listing of events that we curate each month in our Happenings section, which are also found in our free SB app. And, if you are wondering what to wear, we’ve picked three other events and matched them with three outfits each in our monthly What to Wear series.
For October, we’re excited to highlight a favorite new restaurant that just opened in Germantown as well as our big list of restaurants that have opened in the past few months. We’ve got a fabulous fashion spread and our interiors articles this month will inspire you. We know that you are busy and we’re working hard to keep you in the know!
Our exciting news is that StyleBlueprint has a brand new look, so click around and see what you think. It’s easier to find all our articles and you’ll be able, far more quickly, to see all of our extra articles that we add to the site each month—the ones that don’t actually email out. Also, check out our newest updates to the SB app, which are outlined right here.
Please let us know about any exciting things you know about in town or ask us your interiors and fashion questions. One of our favorite things to do is write articles that we know are answering a need!
It’s September. It’s about this time of year when I start to look back on the year and hope to see some changes to mark the year. What has 2015 meant for you so far? What were those new year’s resolutions? Now is the time to act on any that you don’t want to lament come 2016. In fact, as I write this, it’s 16 weeks until 2016. Enough time to dive into a project, find a new workout routine, vow to make your bed each day and really find a wonderful place to volunteer. Whatever it is you want to work on, now is your time to shine!
September also brings football and we are excited about that here at StyleBlueprint. Look for more tailgating recipes on our Pinterest Recipe Board as well as a few to pop up on StyleBlueprint.com this month.
Most of all, September brings change. A change in the weather, a change in routine and a change in wardrobes. We’re here with some quick weeknight meals, inspiration from some beautiful homes and some tips for embracing fall fashion no matter your shape. We also have some fun changes of our own that will be apparent very soon.
All in all, we’re really excited about our September content we have planned and we’re ready to embrace our city with the help of the StyleBlueprint Guide and the SB App, which includes the SB Guide + local events + tips and more … stay tuned for fun changes coming!

August starts the long goodbye to summer as we cherish the longer days, blooming gardens, last days at the pool and parents enjoy not having Saturday morning sports. Vacations come to an end and with the start of school, traffic increases significantly. Oh, summer, you fleeting friend of chaos and joy. We’d like you to stay a little longer, but I guess the football season must begin …
Pre-season football is soon underway for the Titans and chatter has already begun on which college teams are over-hyped and which ones need the wins. Vanderbilt needs wins.
At StyleBlueprint, we’ll bring you great recipes this month to savor this last month of summer. We’ll also talk fall fashion trends, what makes a great bedroom, highlight a great upcoming neighborhood, showcase a very hip house and even talk weekend eats as we partner with a one of Nashville’s most beloved foodies. We have some fun city highlights in store as well. All in all, August is a fabulous month to be reading StyleBlueprint, so make sure you’ve subscribed.
Hold on tight; September will be here before you know it, but we’ll keep you in the know in our Happenings section and SB Weekend. We’ll also surpass 10,000 Instagram followers this month and we’re grateful to each and every one!
Happy August. Soak up the sun while you can!

July is here, and with it, the days seem to slow just a bit. The heat and humidity, mixed with the realization for many that summer is halfway through, reminds us all to enjoy these longer days mixed with a more laissez faire attitude.
For us at StyleBlueprint, July brings fabulous Southern FACES each Monday and Wedding Wednesdays each week. We’ll be showcasing an up-and-coming neighborhood that we are gaga over, a new restaurant, a perfect culinary weekend and more! The content is light and breezy this month to counter the hazy days of summer that are upon us.
Traveling throughout the South this month? Be sure to download our free SB app at the Apple Store; it’s fabulous! Road trips get long so make a plan to stop in Memphis or Birmingham at a locally owned restaurant or coffee shop for a brief respite. Maybe even buy a beach coverup at a local boutique. Of course, the same goes for Nashville! Spend your money locally with fabulous services and products at the best local businesses, found in our SB Guide, which is always at your fingertips with the SB app!
More than anything, we want to connect with you daily. We hope you are getting our articles emailed to you each day as well as connecting to us through our SB app and StyleBlueprint Nashville social media accounts, including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. Our Pinterest following has doubled this year, and we’re enjoying the interaction with more readers on this platform as well.
Let us know if you have any suggestions about what we can do to make your StyleBlueprint experience that much better. And enjoy your July!

Whew. Did you survive May? We’ve been plopped down into summer by a rocketship with the graceful stop of a brick wall. Yep, it is summer. Pools are open, hair is frizzing and humidity is on the rise. And … attitudes are suddenly a bit more laissez faire … the thing we most love about these summer months. We get a chance to calm a bit; even if our schedules are out of whack, the longer days fill us with vitamin D and a joy that simply is summer.
Look for StyleBlueprint this month to bring you lots of homes, as who doesn’t love daydreaming about beautiful homes?! We also have some fabulous restaurant spotlights, cheap finds, a Father’s Day gift list, great girlfriend getaways and as always, a collection of fantastic local women spotlighted through our FACES series. Check our Happenings Section for fun events all June and be sure to download our FREE SB App which has our happening as well as local restaurants and stores, already curated for you, and listed by category and neighborhood.
As an extra bonus for reading this, here’s my favorite June tip: in the first two weeks of June, find a greenway and bike it near dusk. The fireflies will create the most magical journey that no Instagram photo can possibly capture. You simply have to be there.
