John Petrey: Rethinking Sculptural Forms references the world of architecture, fashion, art,
and new technology, ranging in style from lighthearted to symbolic. To make it easy for both
artists and clients, Arts Company has requested sculptors to make maquettes, or models, of their large scale pieces. These are smaller versions of pieces that can be made for large, outdoor installations.
This is the case with John Petrey’s work. His architectural series consists of miniaturized
versions of what could be huge pieces for outdoor installations. All of his pieces are original and
cannot be exactly replicated. Each individual component of his work is selected, prepared and
fitted to make the whole piece. John Petrey: Rethinking Sculptural Forms opens during First Saturday Art Crawl Downtown on April 1, 6PM-9PM; continuing through April 27, during regular gallery
hours, 11am-5pm, Tuesday-Saturday.
