September in Nashville ushers in cooler weather along with plenty of local events that you’ll want to have on your calendar. Whether you’re wine tasting at Wine on the River, rocking out at the Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival or spending a girls’ night at Nashville Ballet’s The Sleeping Beauty, it’s sure to be a fun month. To make your life a bit easier, stylist Meredith Mathis pulled together nine event-worthy ensembles from local boutiques Gus Mayer, Raine and e. Allen paired with accessories and denim from Fashionable. We then set out for a fun day at Nashville’s new 21c Museum Hotel with lifestyle blogger Chloe Wen modeling all of this month’s most coveted styles!
The Event: Wine on the River
- September 9, 2017
- Casual yet breathable attire
- Tickets start at $59.
Nashville’s 15th annual Wine on the River provides an opportunity to welcome fall while sipping on wines from around the world. Enjoy culturally themed menus from local restaurants and live jazz music all while taking in a stunning view of Nashville from the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge.
What to Wear: Because this event takes place in early September, you’ll want to ensure your outfit is breathable while also carrying hints of the autumn months to come. We love pairing fall hues such as olive green or plum with dark-wash denim. Toss on some comfortable suede booties, and you’re all set!
The Event: Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival
- September 23 & 24, 2017
- Outdoor concert attire
- Tickets start at $135 for a day pass. (Saturday is sold out.) Limited two-day passess are also available.
While it’s only the third annual Pilgrimage Festival, this event is quickly becoming a Nashville favorite. Boasting some of the best local, national and international artists such as Justin Timberlake, Eddie Vedder, Ryan Adams, Walk The Moon, Fitz and The Tantrums and The Revivalists, we absolutely understand why. Purchase a two-day pass to ensure an ideal weekend spent gallivanting around the beautiful Harlinsdale Farm while listening to your favorite tunes.
What to Wear: In the true spirit of the music festival vibe, you’ll want to keep your outfit casual yet fun. Try out an embroidered statement piece, or take a turn from the norm by sporting a pair of flowy, patterned shorts with a simple t-shirt. Just remember the weather cools off once the sun goes down, so layering can be helpful.
The Event: Nashville Ballet’s The Sleeping Beauty
- September 23 & 24, 2017
- Elevated casual to formal attire
- Tickets start at $35.
There’s nothing quite like an evening at the ballet, and Nashville Ballet consistently delivers a stunning performance. Filled with romance and charm, the classic tale of The Sleeping Beauty is sure to be taken to another level with this show. Grab a pair of tickets, and plan for a night of elegance.
What to Wear: This event begs for a slightly elevated look, especially if you’re planning for a nice dinner beforehand. Keep it classy yet comfortable with a lace dress and understated heels, or a fun black dress with bell sleeves. SB TIP: We always love a glass of wine at 21c Museum Hotel‘s Gray & Dudley before any Nashville show. You can then peruse the hotel’s stunning art galleries before heading out for the night!
