What to Wear: November Events

Liza Graves

November brings Thanksgiving, the start of holiday MADNESS and a full circuit of social events in Nashville. Here are three fun ones, along with our advice on what to wear to each.

Happily Ever After Party

November 2, 2012. 7:00-10:00 p.m. The Loveless Barn.

Join Books from Birth at the Happily Ever After Party!

Music by Stony River, Loveless Cafe food, Silent & Live Auction

“Happily Ever After Starts With YOU!  Join Books from Birth at our annual Loveless Barn Party as we raise much-needed funds to purchase books for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and Jo’s Reach Out & Read Book Club”–Books from Birth

Grand Hosts: NYT Bestselling Author and NY Mets Pitcher, R.A. Dickey and his wife & Anne
Tickets: $100 per person. To purchase, or for more information, click here. (Last day to register is Oct. 26th!)
What to wear: This party is casual. Leave your tattered jeans behind, but do embrace denim or a casual dress that lends itself to the barn atmosphere and Loveless Cafe cooking!

Boutique Bella: Known for their endless supply of all things denim, Boutique Bella was the obvious choice to pair with this event. However, Boutique Bella also has an abundance of dresses, sweaters, and silky tops on hand to elevate that denim, whether it be blue, colored or waxed (or cords!) and create the perfect outfit to make this event casual, yet special. Be sure to wear something that will allow you to scoot across the dance floor should the mood strike! www.boutiquebella.com

This outfit at Boutique Bella seen three ways. Cords: AG, $168; lightweight cardigan: Tart, $115; black tee, Bobi, $55; necklace, $54; scarf: Gypsy, $64. Brown or black suede strappy sandals would be great here.

Just $26!

These Chan Luu earrings would be great (but not paired with the necklace used on our “three ways to style” outfit above!) $108.

Max and Cleo mock-wrap dress (love that it’s mock!), $148.

Small monogram necklace, $49. Long necklace, $48. Both by Diana Warner

Glam blouse, $106. Paige boot cut jeans, $169.

Chan Luu bracelets from $55-$236

The Conservancy Gala 2012

November 3, 2012. 7:00pm. The Parthenon.

Benefiting both the Parthenon and Centennial Park, this gala, begun just two years ago, has caused quite a stir and is already an eagerly anticipated event. “The Conservancy’s mission is to strengthen, enhance and preserve the Parthenon and Centennial Park. Proceeds from the Gala support programs and exhibits and maintain the venue as a home for history, culture and the arts. The Parthenon may be 115 years old, but the Board is a vibrant, progressive group looking for original ways to reach out to the community.”- NFocus

Co Chairs: Betsy and Ridley Wills
Tickets: $500 per person. To purchase tickets, or for more information, click here.
What to wear: This party is formal, as the word “gala” implies, but there is no dancing. So, wear those shoes that might pinch if you danced for hours, but look mar-ve-lous and that long gown that might not flow enough to really get your dancing groove on as it’s okay. This night is made for enjoying the Parthenon and conversations with fellow guests.

Gus Mayer: Known for ga-ga-ga-gorgeous items, Gus Mayer never disappoints. Whether you are looking to spend $6,000+ on a gown or $500, start here. Their handbag selection is the envy of every place in town, and their range of dressy to more casual pieces is, simply, wow. www.gusmayer.com

This Monique Lhilliuer is actually navy, not black. It’s stunning, huh?! $5990. Leather belt, $330.

This Deepa Gurnani clutch makes the perfect addition to an evening outfit. $285

This Catherine Regert dress, at $2850, is beautiful on many body types!

Deepa Gurnani clutch, $290

ML (by Monique Luhillier), $498.

Rafe bag, with tassel, $185

Vince Gill and Chair-ish the Kids

November 16, 2012. 6:00 -10:00 p.m. Country Music Hall of Fame.

After 16 years, STARS made the daring decision to merge their popular Chair-ish the Kids art auction with their premier benefit concert, An Evening with Vince Gill & Special Friends. This is the first year that these two have been combined and it promises to be magical! The proceeds of this event directly help STARS “serve schools and communities by providing prevention, intervention and treatment services addressing bullying, substance abuse, violence, and social and emotional barriers to success.” — STARS website.

Both fine art and incredible music will be on display during this memorable evening.

Co-Chairs: Country music singer/songwriter Chad Warrix and Tennessee Titans Kicker Rob Bironas.
Concert Chair is Christy Smith.
Tickets: Start at $125/person. To purchase and for more information, click here.
What to wear: Think jeans blended with an art opening. The past few years the Chair-ish event has been casual, more jeans and boots. But, the Vince Gill event has seen more artsy dressing. Expect to see a blend at this year’s event as the two experiences meld for the first time. Dresses, dark and waxed jeans and knit pants slipped into boots are all sure to make an appearance.

SOCA Boutique: Nashville’s newest women’s boutique, SOCA, hails from Birmingham where we’ve long been fans of this fun store. With a wide price range (seriously… think $40-$300) of clothing, jewelry and handbags, this store is already causing quite a buzz. It is located on one of our favorite streets, Bandywood, in front of Willow Pilates. Be sure to check it out as you will love it!  socaclothing.com
