Although the groundhog saw his shadow, we are hoping that March will transition us into spring weather. With all the events this time of year, it can be taxing to find the perfect outfit. We are here to help. Using the three events below, we hope to inspire you to get out there and show off your winter-to-spring style. Plus, the biggest dilemma of attending any event is deciding what to wear, right?
Today, we are showcasing fashions from local boutiques SOCA, Boutique Bella, Gus Mayer, Hemline and J. McLaughlin. We also have a few online options. (And you’ll see why. Hint: yellow is a hard color to come across this season.)
March 9, 2014: Taste of Williamson
Taste of Williamson allows ticket holders to meet chefs and sample a variety of foods and beverages while enjoying musical entertainment at the convenience of CoolSprings Galleria (so the weather is perfect, no matter the forecast!). We have been getting a taste of spring weather we’re ready to get out. Window shopping is an added bonus. This casual event is the perfect opportunity to test out new spring colors and pack those bulky sweaters away until next year. All proceeds benefit United Way of Williamson County and its partner agencies.
Saturday, March 9 at CoolSprings Galleria. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door.

March 8, 2014: Ballet Ball 2014 Late Party
The Ballet Ball brings together top philanthropists and patrons of the arts for an elegant black-tie affair. In conjunction with this event, The Ballet Ball Late Party offers a night out for Nashville’s 20 and 30 somethings that promises to excite. Sip cocktails and mingle in your chicest attire while the main ball takes place next door. Dress to impress with these fashion tips and dance the night away: wear a long dress. It’s a ball, but you don’t need a “ball gown” per se. You are young enough to get away with something chic and more moderately priced. But, do take time and think about polished hair and accessories (you are joining with the “big ball” after all!) And, if you want to pull out the big guns and get the fancy schmancy dress, by all means do! You will look spectacular!
Saturday, March 8 at Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Tickets are $125 per person. www.nashvilleballet.com
March 8, 2014: Big Yellow Bird Bash
Who doesn’t love NPT? Hello Ken Burns documentaries, Downton Abbey and yes … Sesame Street! This party promises to be fun, but the thought of wearing the suggested yellow attire may leave you scratching your head. Here are some pointers that everyone can embrace, even for those who are sure that yellow is not their color (think accesories!).
Saturday, March 8 at Houston Station. Tickets are $50 per person. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.wnpt.org
By the way, do you know how hard it is to find yellow clothing right now? Lilly Pulitzer, Ann Taylor and Banana Republic don’t even have the color “yellow” as an option for color choice when searching for a dress. J. Crew had ONE yellow dress (it’s included below.) For J. McLaughlin, like Lilly, a company we look to for fun splashes of color, again this is not even a choice to search for! (But they do have plenty of prints and accessories that incorporate yellow.)
All this to say, yellow is hard to find this year, but we did find some options, and cocktail attire is encouraged. Here ya go! (*Note, I’m seeing more yellow in higher-end brands, which means more yellow may be on the way for mid-priced brands next year.)
