Thanksgiving To-Go: Where to Order Holiday Takeout in Williamson Coutnty

November 12, 2014 by Cathi Aycock

Holiday takeout used to be taboo, but with so many restaurants offering options as good (or better!) as your own culinary creations, why not save some energy, step away from the kitchen and actually enjoy your family? From turkey with all of the fixings to a few sides to augment your meal, there are options galore to help you feed the masses. And if you want everyone to think you are truly Wonder Woman (you are, by the way!), just put these almost-like-homemade goodies in your own casserole dishes and no one will be the wiser.

Thanksgiving meals are available for take-out at places like Puckett's.

Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant

120 Fourth Ave. S., Franklin 37064
(615) 794-5527 • puckettsgrocery.com

Would you like that turkey fried, smoked or traditional? How about a dizzying array of homestyle casseroles like green bean or sweet potato? Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant offers all of the great, down-home essentials for Thanksgiving. A large turkey, roasted or smoked, is $75, fried turkey is $90. Sides, like corn bread dressing and corn pudding, are $9.99 each and feed six to eight people, while a serving for 15 to 20 is $24.99. Not a turkey lover? Puckett’s Grocery & Restaurant also offers smoked prime rib, ham, pork and baby back ribs. Order by Saturday, Nov. 22. Click here for details.

Barbara’s Home Cookin’

232 Old Hillsboro Rd., Franklin 37064
(615) 794-9533 • barbarashomecooking.com

Barbara’s Home Cookin’ has a near cult-like following for the yeast rolls that are basically bread nirvana. Order up a dozen of the famous rolls for a mere $7 each. This “just like Mama makes” restaurant is a tiny gem that produces amazing Thanksgiving sides, like squash and sweet potato casserole, as well as roasted boneless turkey breast and smoked bone-in turkey breast for around $75. Click here for ordering info and details.

Cool Cafe

1110 Hillsboro Rd., Ste. B200, Franklin 37064
(615) 599-0338 • coolcafefranklin.com

The quintessential meat-and-three, Cool Cafe has a full menu of Thanksgiving offerings. Order a whole bird (12 to 15 pounds or 18 to 22 pounds), sliced or unsliced, for $65 – $90; or opt for a breast only (8 to 12 pounds) for $30 – $55. And select some sides like your Granny makes — pea salad, fried corn, mashed potatoes and more — for $5.95 each. Additional options include appetizers (dips, chips, etc.), specials like rolls and gravy, and, of course, desserts, including pies, cobblers and banana pudding. Order by Friday, Nov. 21, with pickup Wednesday, Nov. 26. Click here for details.

Miss Daisy’s Kitchen at Grassland Foodland

2176 Hillsboro Rd., Franklin 37064
(615) 599-5313 • daisyking-dev.com

While you can’t get the turkey at this gourmet to-go site located inside a great, locally owned grocery, you can get everything else you need for your Thanksgiving meal. Miss Daisy’s Kitchen even lets you bring your own casserole dishes to be filled with tempting sides, like squash casserole, corn bread dressing and cinnamon-pecan cranberry sauce. Order by Thursday, Nov. 20. Click here to learn more.

Copper Kettle

901 Columbia Ave., Franklin 37064
(615) 905-4949 • copperkettlenashville.com

Known for their fabulous brunch buffet, this eatery also shines at catering for parties and holidays. Copper Kettle offers traditional favorites with a Copper Kettle twist (think smoked Gouda mac & cheese) that will make your Thanksgiving guests happy and full of food-coma gratitude. The menu includes turkey ($60), sides that serve 12 to 15 people ($27 each), and seven different desserts ($18 – $35). Hors d’oeuvres are also available. (Editor’s note: The Southern Style Bread Pudding with Jack Daniel’s Sauce is pure dessert gold; they claim it will feed 12 to 15 people, but we bet you’ll be lucky to even get one bite!) Order by Friday, Nov. 21; pickup on Wednesday, Nov. 26. Click here for menu and ordering information.

City Cafe

330 Franklin Rd., Brentwood 37027
(615) 373-5555

Brentwood locals love City Cafe for the meat-and-three offerings, but this time of year, they love it for its Thanksgiving options, as well. The folks at City Cafe roast whole turkeys and slice them up for you for $14.25 per pound. Corn bread dressing and traditional sides are also available. The best sellers, though, are their pies. Pecan, buttermilk chess, chocolate fudge and more for $17 each. We recommend you pick up an extra to indulge in while binge-watching Netflix after all the company leaves. Order by phone — (615) 373-5555 — by Friday, Nov. 21. Pickup on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
