Just like many of you, we are pulling our hair, cursing elves and pleading for extra days to magically appear. In the midst of this month of the never-ending to do list, we found ourselves this past Wednesday at the Nashville Humane Association (NHA). While we may have been questioning this SB MeetUp (why now!), we all left filled with Christmas cheer.
This week, the NHA is celebrating ten years at their location off of White Bridge Road on Oceola Avenue. This building is filled with animals who would love nothing better than to end up adopted as the ultimate holiday gift. I have adopted from NHA four times, both adult animal and puppy/kitten adoptions. Our pets are so amazing, and just thinking about their journey to the NHA and then to our home, rather than being euthanized at the pound, is at times sobering—there are so many pets wanting loving homes who are ready to make your life that much better simply because they are a part of it. If you are considering a new pet, please consider adoption.
And, before we show off all these fabulous animals that we fell for, here are some options for those who just can’t adopt a new pet:
1) Christmas Tree Needs: In the lobby of the NHA, there is a Christmas tree decorated with needs for all the wonderful animals. In addition, newspapers are a constant need!
2) Tiny But Mighty: This is a fundraiser going on right now to raise funds for the NHA. We have a whole paragraph about it at the end of today’s post, so enjoy these photos, consider adopting you future best friend and also consider a pledge to Tiny But Mighty as you finish reading today.
Now, for the fun. The fabulous Adrian Morales of Snappylifestyle came and shot photos of all of us with StyleBlueprint as our hearts melted with slobbery kisses and grateful purrs.
Right after we left, a new litter of puppies came in. Wendy and Amy headed back the next day to make sure a couple new pups got their moment in the spotlight, hoping for that Christmas bow!
As promised, more about the Tiny But Mighty Fund:
This is newly launched campaign will hold events throughout the year in an effort to raise funds that directly benefit our furry friends. Marcia Masulla is behind this event and it has already raised almost $14,000. Every $5 donation helps! All money raised in this inaugural campaign will benefit the NHA. In her own words, “Tiny But Mighty Fund was created not only to honor the life of Chico, my chihuahua who passed away on 11/7/13 after an 18 month battle with congestive heart failure, but to also celebrate the unbreakable bonds between pups and their people, while raising as much money as humanly possible to support our animal friends. Even the tiniest acts of kindness can make a might big difference!”
