September is here, which means it’s time to begin thinking about a whole new season. Enjoy this list of lovelies we’ve curated just for you. The weather’s hot, but our FINDS, we think, are hotter!
For fall 2013, red lips are in. Whether you are grabbing a stain, a gloss or a lipstick, your perfect red can at once whiten your teeth, make your dark circles look less aparent and give you a certain sophistication and polish that pink can never achieve. There is a reason it’s a classic. Here are 3 lip colors we are lovin’ this fall!
This red currant is from their newly launched “Nashville Collection.” We suppose this means you just may see these colors across your high def TV on ABC starting very soon! What we like about Therapy Systems lip gloss is that they aren’t tacky, and by that we mean color but also feel. They don’t attract every dust particle floating through the air like some lip glosses seem to do. Plus, one application has some staying power. Available at Therapy Systems, The Cosmetic Market and Private Edition. www.therapysystems.com $22
Giorgio Armani Rouge Ecstacy Lipstick
For winner of the most buzzed about lip color, give this collection a spin. Akin to the rage over “BB” creams and then “CC” creams, this lipstick is the first “CC”, standing for “Color” and “Care.” It’s formulated to nourish your lips while providing long lasting color. It goes on with a just bit of shine and feels more like a balm. It also can be layered for a more opaque look (i.e. you can build this color) and it starts off more semi-sheer. This lipstick really does the “care” part well, as it exfoliates and conditions your lips when you wear it. Your parched, sunburned late summer lips will be supple with just a few applications from this collection.
Red color to try? Both Hot (#401) and Four Hundred (#400) are right on trend for fall and are flattering to many. These cool shades will perfectly counteract a sleepless night and perk your skin right up! Fall is pretty much here, go grab a new lip color to celebrate! This color looks great with most skin types and hair colors. $34 www.wooskincareandcosmetics.com
Burt’s Bees Evening Glow Lip Gloss
For a drugstore purchase that is 100% natural, Burt’s Bees is always our favorite, and their lip glosses are no exception. Highly pigmented, they look great and are easy to apply. The only stinker is that these seem to need lots of reapplication. But, this Evening Glow shade (shown below) is a pretty red for those needing some reassurance that red is the way to go. $9
This verse from the Beatles’ hit “We Can Work It Out,” repurposed as wall art, is the perfect addition to hang in the kitchen or breakfast room, especially if you have kids who are constantly bickering in those areas! It’s a nice daily reminder to let bygones be bygones. Warning: this song may get stuck in your head! Available at Absolution for $200. www.seekabsolution.com
A Fresh Scent
This candle was burning while we were in at Obelisk recently, and we were more than a little effusive in our adoration. The staff on hand agreed–they all own it, too! We declared it must-have, which makes it a perfect SB FIND. This soy candle is by Aquiesse (AQ) in Passion Fruit & Citrus, and is $36 for the 11 ounce size. www.bradfordsinteriors.com/obelisk.
Butterflies, All Year Long
What is it about butterfly displays that are at once beautiful, captivating, educational and yet, kinda creepy? It’s that friction of wonder that makes these such fabulous additions to any wall or bookcase vignette. It’s akin to having science class and a page from House Beautiful merge on your wall. Starting at $150 at AshBlue, the selection is huge and we want them all. Really, all of them. www.ashblue.com
These alluring clay pomegranates comes in a variety of sizes, each for $21. White is such an easy color to decorate with and we see so many uses for these. Plus, in a pinch, you can grab three of these, add water and a flower in each, and voila! Centerpiece done! Found at Vignette. www.vignettebrentwoodtn.com
Academic Planners for Teens
Mentioned in an August back-to-school post, this planner piqued the attention of a few of us who have teens in need of a better way to stay organized. Having seen this planner in action for a few weeks now, we think this is a really good tool because the way it’s oriented makes it easy for your student to see blocks of time that are are open for studying or filled with activities. www.orderochaos.com

We found this last month from the SB ATL August FINDS and loved it so much we wanted to share! Wish you could frame those silly selfies from the beach trip? What about the great shots you snapped at the top of the trail? Most of us take those candid shots with our phones, posting to Facebook or Instagram and never print them out. Technology advancement has shifted all of our favorite photographs out of the album and into the “cloud.” Piccolo Photography Services fill in the gaps for you. Just purchase a subscription (starting at $10/month) to this online service and once a month, you’ll get a reminder to pick your favorite shots to be developed and mailed to you. If you forget to place your order, Piccolo will automatically print the photos most viewed and shared from your sites. How cool is that? piccolo.is
Catherine the Great
We can’t think of a more interesting yet controversial figure than Catherine the Great. Smart and demanding, this enlightened leader of Russia from the 1700’s wasn’t even Russian. If you want to read what is considered one of the best biography’s on her life, then we suggest Catherine the Great: Portrait of a Woman by Robert K. Massie. Robert K. Massie will be honored at the Nashville Public Library’s Literary Award Gala this November 8 and 9, 2013. Mark your calendars on Saturday, November 9th, as you will have a chance to hear this Pulitzer award winning author for free! For more information on the lecture: nplf.org Available at Parnassus Books: www.parnassusbooks.net.

Finally, you can get cake pops in Green Hills, right on Bandywood Ave in the newly open Frosted Affair. Located in the former Perfect Pair location (which is still open, just back a few doors in the same shopping complex) in Bandywood Courtyard, these scrumptious treats need to be your after school, after tennis, bring to work, and just-‘cuz-I-want-them indulgence! All the flavors are over the top fabulous, but the Salted Caramel (chocolate cake with caramel buttercream and mini chocolate chips dipped in semi sweet chocolate and topped with white chocolate, caramel drizzle and sea salt) may just have a special place in all of our hearts. $2.50 each. www.thefrostedaffair.com
