We just love fall, we really do. And we’re not sure if it’s a side effect of the season, or just an extraordinarily great month of discovery, but we are completely smitten with these FINDS for October, too!
Rose Lip Conditioner by AERIN Beauty
This new brand is “officially” launching next week at Woo Skincare + Cosmetics, but you can start shopping now. Aerin Lauder (a multi-tasking mom extraordinaire, among every thing else she does) created this cosmetic line for the busy woman on the go (i.e., women who have 5 min or less for makeup). The Rose Lip Conditioner is receiving high praise on its own or layered over your lipstick. With super long-wear protection, this rosy scented lip conditioner has just the slightest bit of shimmer to give your lips a glossy finish. Repair, nourish and add the slightest bit of color while feeling a little luxury on your lips. It requires just the teeniest amount — so don’t overdo it! $28. wooskincareandcosmetics.com
Compare Two High-Volume Mascaras
We’ve heard great things about the ease and “wow factor” of the Le Volume de Chanel Mascara ($30). And, it does stand out for providing easy access to thick long lashes. We compared it to one of our favorite drug store brands (which we have to order online, as no drug store around here carries it), Prestige’s My Biggest Lash Effect Mascara ($5.85) below. Both are good, but different. Choose which look and price fits your look and budget:

AG Protege SUD Straight Leg Pants
Nordstrom was kind enough to host a fall trends gathering for all of our SB city editors a couple weeks ago. Well, these pants, for him, are what got one of the biggest reactions of the evening. The chatter was loud, as those familiar with these pants went on and on about how much their husbands were seriously infatuated with this one style. One editor mentioned overhearing her husband and a group of friends carry on about how great this one pant was. So, we paid attention, knowing you needed to know about these, as well! $178 and available in regular, tall and big and in 12 different colors. shop.nordstrom.com

Material Good donates 10% of all profits to cancer research. Bring happiness to your home and to the cancer fight. $20 and available at AshBlue. www.ashblue.com
Another great find, also benefitting breast cancer research … We think the quote from NEST Founder/CEO Laura Slatkin says it all: “Passion honors the memory and the extraordinary achievements of Evelyn Lauder. Her passion and dedication to finding a cure for and preventing breast cancer by establishing The Breast Cancer Research Foundation are legendary. Not only did she raise awareness of breast cancer globally, she also inspired leading scientists to study the disease by funding ground-breaking research at renowned medical centers worldwide. I was inspired to create Passion after hearing Evelyn’s husband, Leonard, lovingly announce his commitment to continuing her critically important work. They were in this fight together, and NEST Fragrances is pleased to join them by supporting The Breast Cancer Research Foundation with Passion.”—Laura Slatkin, Founder and CEO of NEST Fragrances
NEST candles are available at many home stores in the area so be on the look out! $28. www.nestfragrances.com

Acrylic and Leather Lucite Trays
While photographing our Fall Dinner Party post last week, we could not take our eyes off so many of the items in the R. Higgins showroom. It is filled to the brim as they get ready to sell on One Kings Lane. Before these items go live online at the end of October, stop by and browse. We particularly liked the versatility of these lucite trays with leather and metal handles. They measure 15 x 30 inches and retail for $205. rhigginsinteriors.com

Where’s the Craft Beer?
With all the craft brews available these days, it’s hard to keep up, much less know which restaurants and bars are serving your favorites. We’ve discovered a great app called Untappd to solve that problem and follow what your friends are enjoying, as well. untappd.com
Freakshow Cabernet Savignon
Yes, that is the real name of this Michael David wine. This wine will stand out and actually have people asking for the brand name. It’s from California and it’s a “big, juicy, over the top, highly expressed” wine (adjectives from the owners of Harvest Wine Market, trying to elaborate for our non-wine educated selves!). Bottom line: it’s $19.99 and will surprise you with it’s downright crave-able taste. Want more proof? It’s sold out, so grab a bottle on or after October 2, 2013, when it will be back in stock at Harvest Wine Market. Freakshow. See, it’s so fun to say. Buy a case for the upcoming holidays. Located on Hwy 100 near the Hwy 100/70 split. www.harvestwinemkt.com

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
This is a beautiful story about two teenagers, Hazel and Augustus, who meet in a Cancer Kid Support Group. Keep your tissues handy. SB Tip: We recommend this book for teens due to some of the more mature themes.
The Book Thief by Marcus Zuzak
An unforgettable story based in WW II Germany about a foster girl named Leisel, this novel is a powerful reminder that books can lift us up out of our circumstances and nurture our spirits. SB Tip: This book is appropriate for tweens.
Ahhh…. Fall. Enjoy!
And be sure to check out our other SB sister cities’ FINDS today, too:
