What’s the One Item to Never Leave Home Without?

March 22, 2016 by Alex Hendrickson

We still can’t put our finger on why we want to know the contents of other people’s bags, but we are undeniably curious. Thankfully, a few notable ladies around town were kind enough to indulge us by spilling the contents of their bags and letting us know the items they never leave home without. Take a peek at what business owners, chefs, makeup experts, working moms and local creatives grab before running out the door!

Cindi Earl of Cindi Earl Fine Jewelry

“Earrings — for some strange reason — and something to drink (water, Dr Pepper, coffee). I always have something to drink with me, and I have on earrings!”

You will never find Cindi Earl without a great pair of earrings on!

Anna Tefel of Studio Novo

“Normally, I would never leave home without a pair of Novo grippy socks and a pair of running shoes. With a busy schedule, I never know exactly when I’ll be able to squeeze in a Novo class or a quick walk or run! It’s good to be prepared. One of my guiltiest pleasures is squeezing in a workout in my small amount of free time!

Lately, while pregnant, I still never leave home without my running shoes, in case I can squeeze in a walk, but I also never leave home without a snack. My current go-to snacks are the chocolate chip cookie dough Larabars and water, of course!”

Lynn Osgood of Therapy Systems

“It would be hard for me to actually narrow it down to one item! In the past, I carried a purse loaded with products — hand creams, eye pencils, lip treatment products, etc. All this to say that now, in my small purse, it would be my new favorite Winky Lux Meow lipstick and Therapy Systems Poppy gloss. But to be honest, I couldn’t leave home without my readers, either, as I can’t see anything — and I do mean anything — without them.”

Van Tucker of Nashville Fashion Alliance

“I never leave home without my NFA business cards, Warby Parker sunglasses and a positive attitude!!”

Holly Williams of H. Audrey and White’s Mercantile

“I never leave home without my elizabethW hand cream, Buckler’s chapped lip remedy, Ray Ban sunglasses, baby puffs for kiddos in the backseat or my laptop! And elizabethW and Buckler’s are available at White’s Mercantile.”

Paige Hill of WKRN News 2

“I always do the phone, keys, wallet check, first and foremost. And I can’t leave without my fancy lip gloss — Aquaphor — and a blood orange San Pellegrino to go because I’m addicted and might experience symptoms of withdrawal if gone too long!”

Suzy Scott of J.McLaughlin

“Bobbi Brown lipstick from Woo Skincare + Cosmetics (burnt red is my color, and it’s the only one that doesn’t dry out my lips), my iPad, Vitamin Water Zero and a J. McLaughlin scarf … it’s an addiction (the color/pattern/fabric change with the weather).”

Angie Cook of Hester & Cook

“Kelsi Dagger structured backpack (for hands-free errands), at least three lipstick options (my current favorite is Timeless by Kevyn Aucoin), Mentos Pure Fresh gum, a Craig pen case full of pen and pencils — my Delfonics pen from our shop is a staple, and a MUJI Kraft notebook … I love to write and draw if I have an extra moment. And for chocolate emergencies, a Ritter Sport milk chocolate bar with cornflakes!”

Margot McCormack of Margot and Marché Artisan Foods

“I never leave home without my reading glasses (because I’m at that age where I can’t see a thing without them), phone, wallet, some kind of jacket, a clipboard for work, and a drink or snack for my son. I also have a stash of Advil, Kleenex, Blistex and a nail file in the car.”

Prepared for anything, Margot always has Kleenex, Avdil and

Mary Mooney of Mary Mooney Art

“Vintage sunglasses from my favorite aunt, my Elizabeth Suzann beanie (I just scored it at the sample sale, but we’re already inseparable) and Therapy Systems lipstick! My favorite shades are Naples (for anytime) and No. 4 (for a statement), my Moleskine sketchbook and pen, I just got a hydro flask I pretend is full of water but is usually full of homemade iced coffee, and perhaps most importantly, my Mary Mooney wearable abstract necklace: the viral marketing tool that is essential for this introverted artist!”

Woo Caroland of Woo Skincare + Cosmetics

“LipSmart lip conditioner, water in my S’well bottle, lip gloss (Bobbi Brown, of course), super smile gum to freshen breath, SEE sunglasses, and a scarf if I get cold.”

“S’well water bottle, lipstick (Chanel), iPhone and Grab The Gold bar (there is always one in my bag).”

Seema Prasad of Miel

“I always have a Trib Moringa bar in my bag (peanut butter!). They get me through a long day when I do not take the chance to sit down to eat — crazy that I own a restaurant, huh?”

Despite the fact that she owns a restaurant, Seema Prasad forgets to sit down and eat like the rest of us! Image:
