As we plot and plan for what to add to our own fall wardrobes, we can’t help but wonder what our favorite fashionistas are adding to their fall wardrobes. So we did what any curious cat would do and asked them: What is one item you are adding to your wardrobe for fall? Their answers provided us with tons of inspiration and an even longer shopping list than we previously had — imitation is the best form of flattery, right? Below, 11 local fashion icons whose fashion choices are worth noting share their top picks for fall.
Holly Williams of H. Audrey and White’s Mercantile
I will be getting a Sam outerwear jacket with the fur lining. We sell them at H. Audrey and White’s. They are the most fabulous jackets for any weather — but actually stylish! A must have!
Hud Hudson of Jamie
I am going to have to go with a deconstructed sweater!
Libby Callaway of The Callaway
With its perfectly proportioned wooden heel and slim ankle shaft, Ceri Hoover’s Benson Bootie is calling my name! I’m especially psyched that Ceri’s coming out with a limited edition run in cherry red for the holidays.
Eric Viars of The Oxford Shop
Wool/cashmere overshirt … it’s made to be worn in place of a jacket or sweater; wear it over a knit, a sport shirt or a dress shirt and tie. Casual and sophisticated.
Savannah Yarborough of AtelierSavas
For fall, I’ll be adding a bright camel suede studded jacket with a black coyote fur collar to my wardrobe.
Gen Sohr of Pencil & Paper Co.
I always love a classic winter coat in a statement color. This fall, I’m coveting all things in a deep, rich shade of hunter green!
Gavin Ivester of FLO | THINKERY and Nashville Fashion Alliance Board Member
I’m all about tailored comfort during the work week — so I love great fit and the way technical performance fabrics are becoming the norm in more dressed-up looks. And as a board member of the Nashville Fashion Alliance (please join!), I’m working to build the fashion industry in the region, in line with a longstanding fascination with wearing made-in-the-USA shoes and clothes whenever possible. That all comes together in a couple of items I have my eye on for fall: a pair of wingtip boots from Allen Edmonds and another pair (in a color I don’t have yet) of technical-fabric, five-pocket Slim Dungarees from Outlier.nyc.
Emil Congdon of Emil Erwin
I am really looking forward to adding a custom leather jacket from AtelierSavas. Other than that, I am strictly jeans and t-shirts.
Cavanagh Baker of Cavanagh Baker
My absolute must-have for this fall season would have to be the Serena Coat from my Fall/Winter 2016 collection. I plan to wear it with everything, from day to night. It will look great with a pair of wide-legged wool pants — like our Taylor pant — during the day. On chilly nights, I’ll layer it over a cocktail dress or jumpsuit, like our Naomi.
Phillip Nappi of Peter Nappi
I will be adding the quilted indigo blazer from Shockoe Atelier that we will carry this fall.
Beth Franklin of Gus Mayer Nashville
I love texture and layering in the fall. I am adding great oversize tops with suede jackets this season. Of course, I can’t not add the choker into the mix. It makes for more fun layering with jewelry!
