H. Audrey
Neighborhood: Green Hills (Hill Center)
More Info: h-audrey.com
Known for its curated designer selection, H. Audrey remains a go-to for Nashville women and beyond. Since taking the helm in 2024, owner Mitch Johnson has expanded offerings with new labels, vintage handbags, and evening wear — all while maintaining the boutique’s signature, personalized service.
This fall, the shop’s Creative Director, Dakota Conn, is highlighting New England-inspired looks (think layered knits, loafers, and vintage jeans), Westernwear with suede and plaid, and tonal brown dressing that mixes multiple shades across clothing and accessories.
Gone West
The Western aesthetic continues its reign this fall. Think tailored menswear shirts, suede jackets, and rigid denim, topped off with a statement belt. “These jeans have a slightly barrel leg, which is perfect for anyone hesitant about trying a more dramatic shape,” Dakota advises.
Mixing Genres
Along with Western details, ’90s-inspired looks are still in! “This look shows you can combine this year’s trends through layering, and the dark suede jacket still gives ‘Western’ while also harkening back to the clean, simple ’90s aesthetic,” Dakota explains. Polished loafers and a slightly cropped straight-leg jean complete the look.
The Long (& Short) of It
This season is all about playing with proportion. Contrasting separates in the same palette create a cohesive yet eye-catching look. “Culotte shorts are trending, and to bring them into cooler months, they’re great paired with a tall boot and a slouchy, slightly cropped top or sweater,” Dakota suggests.
Here, mixing textures like a snakeskin print and soft boucle adds an edgy-feminine touch, while a structured vintage bag pulls it all together.
Seeing Spots
Playful, romantic details also abound this season. “We’re seeing lots of lace and polka dots, and this Ulla Johnson dress makes a beautiful statement of both,” Dakota says. This ensemble offers a bold take, with sheer fabric layered over shorts and a bralette, but you could opt for a black slip dress underneath for a more conservative spin. A structured equestrian blazer adds balance, while a heel and a pleated bag round out the look.
Fall Makeup Trend #1: Matte/Velvety Formulas
Oak Hall
Neighborhoods: Green Hills (Hill Center) & Cool Springs (Franklin)
More Info: oakhall.com
Founded in 1859, Oak Hall remains one of the South’s most iconic fashion retailers, rooted in exceptional service and timeless style. Originally from Memphis, the boutique has built a loyal local following since 2016 and recently opened a new 10,000-square-foot space at McEwen Northside in Franklin.
At all Oak Hall locations, you can expect signature denim in autumnal shades, versatile layers, statement bags, bomber jackets, and tailored footwear for fall.
Think Transitional
Make your fall wardrobe work overtime with mix-and-match pieces that transition seamlessly from early autumn to winter.
For Nashville’s busy social calendar, versatile separates like silk skirts and sleeveless sweaters shift easily from luncheon to cocktail party by swapping in heels and an embellished bag. Similarly, short dresses with long sleeves pair beautifully with high boots for daytime and dressier accessories for evening.
And don’t be afraid of color! “We want to showcase the neutrals that are always staples, but also how bright oranges and rich tones carry beautifully into fall,” says Assistant Ladies’ Buyer Emma Jones.
It’s the Bomb
Bomber jackets are big this season, adding a playful layer to a simple bodysuit or even serving as the main top. “L’Agence makes great layering basics, and they’re definitely a customer favorite,” Emma notes. “We can’t keep them stocked fast enough!”
Pairing a bomber with biscuit-colored denim offers a fresh shift from stark white jeans, while a petite suede bag adds texture and visual interest to the look.
Anything But Basic
Leather loafers never go out of style, and this season they’re the perfect partner for a short-sleeve sweater and cropped, high-waisted jeans. “Browns and blacks pair beautifully together, and shoppers shouldn’t be afraid to mix them,” Emma says. “Tie the look together with a bag or shoe, and you’ll get more mileage out of your wardrobe.”
Fall Makeup Trend #2: “Tightlining”
Bella May
Neighborhood: Green Hills (Bandywood)
More Info: bellamaynashville.com
Since 2021, Bella May has offered a stylish mix of national labels and one-of-a-kind local finds. Owner Renae Fowler curates trends for all ages, making the boutique a go-to for multigenerational shopping. “I love when a mom and daughter can both find pieces they love,” she says.
This fall, Bella May is spotlighting rich seasonal hues: burgundy, red, purple, and layered shades of brown. Seventies-inspired looks dominate, with wide-leg denim and trousers, investment-worthy leather and suede, and classic plaids. Game day looks are also a hit, with subtle nods to school colors.
Go Wide
High-waist, wide-leg bottoms remain a universally flattering staple that can be styled countless ways. Pair with a chunky sweater, a bold print, or a jewel-toned blouse. Tops with details like a keyhole neckline or built-in sash add interest to the look.
Go wild with animal prints, as they continue to have their moment across the fashion world. “Zebra stripes and leopard spots are all the rage this fall in accessories,” Renae notes. A standout spotted handbag, for example, can be paired with nearly anything for an instant update.
Pattern Play
Patterns — from geometric to floral — are the perfect bridge into fall. A dress with flouncy sleeves brings a touch of boho and works just as well with a heel as the season’s must-have tall boots.
When it comes to patterns, Renae suggests letting a single shade inspire your outfit, like styling a patterned blouse and bag in complementary tones of burgundy. “Again, wide-leg jeans can go the distance, and this slightly cream pair transitions beautifully from fall into winter and even spring,” she adds.
