Calling all creatives! Yet another reason to visit Nashville’s trendiest neighborhood, Wedgewood Houston is soon to be the home to the city’s first official design center: the Nashville Design Collective.
Slated to open in early Fall 2019, the Nashville Design Collective — “N D C” for short — will be a two-building, 15-showroom entity offering leasable space to members of the design community. Architects, builders and interior designers alike will utilize the center to create, showcase and collaborate on their work, all under the same roof.
The creative space will occupy 510 Merritt Avenue, a 45,000-square-foot industrial complex formerly occupied by a mop-making business. According to Metro Records, Nashville Design Collective, LLC, recently purchased the property for $6 million.
In addition to showrooms and office spaces, the Nashville Design Collective will also offer several communal meeting areas, a custom event space, conference rooms, a cafe and an outdoor patio. Anne Puricelli, N D C general manager and co-owner, highlights the collective’s dedicated spaces for pop-ups, trunk shows, product launches, presentations and book signings. She envisions the collective as a local resource for creative entities and individuals, bringing luxury products and experiences to Nashville’s doorstep.
At present, names of N D C tenants-to-be are not publicly available. However, we do know that the collective will include showrooms for antiques, fabrics, kitchen and bath design, lighting and bath fittings and fixtures. Anne confirmed that three Nashville showrooms will be relocating to the design collective, as well as three Atlanta-based showrooms that will be entirely new to Nashville’s design community.
Ready to visit the Nashville Design Collective now? Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait a bit longer. Construction on the site begins late this fall, with N D C tenants slated to move in during in Spring 2019.
In the meantime, we remain incredibly excited about what the Nashville Design Collective will bring to Wedgewood Houston and the greater Nashville community. “The N D C will offer so many job opportunities to people looking to work in the design industry,” Anne affirms. “Nashville is such a creative town, and this will offer those with interest in design or architecture a great option.”
We couldn’t agree more.
