It seems like we blinked and February happened. Indeed, a new month is here, spring is finally coming, and it’s time to figure out what to wear to some of Nashville’s most notable events. Though the weather is still unpredictable in March, the month’s exciting calendar is always reliable. Between The Bloody Mary Festival, Frist Fridays and MAD Bash, we’ll be dressing for events involving the whole family, the outdoors, the wonderful world of science and, of course, brunch.
There’s no way to prep for a new month of shopping in Nashville like gathering an expert crew to help. We enlisted our trusted friend and fashionista Cynthia Kelley to create some seasonal and stylish looks with pieces from Hemline, ABLE and Stacey Rhodes Boutique. We were so excited to have some more lovely friends — MacKinnon Morrissey, Tracy Smith and Margaret Thompson — serve as our models for the shoot, while the talented Leslie Moore of Private Edition created striking makeup looks to fit each occasion. In the midst of awards season, it felt extremely fitting to head to the opulent Sinema, housed in the historic Melrose Theatre, for the photoshoot. The Old Hollywood-inspired design and wall decor featuring some of the biggest stars had us feeling appropriately glam. We weren’t exactly dressing for the red carpet, but this scene, these ladies and these events are making March look exceptionally bright!
The Event: The Bloody Mary Festival
- March 9, 2019
- Casual attire
- Track One
- Noon to 3:30 p.m.
- Tickets start at $45. Get yours here.
If you’ve ever longed for your chance to truly identify the best of the best in Nashville Bloody Marys, this is your chance. Put your brunch libation expertise to the test as you enjoy all the glory of The Bloody Mary Festival on March 9. Your ticket purchase includes an entire afternoon of local Bloody Mary samples, tasty bites from your favorite local spots, fun games and more. The festival benefits Fannie Battle‘s efforts to provide high-quality childcare for at-risk children in Nashville. Prepare to walk away with a breadth of Bloody Mary knowledge!
What to Wear: We like to think of The Bloody Mary Festival as brunch … with a little extra lift. We love any chance to wear a comfortable graphic tee or cozy top. Pair either one with a light jacket or blazer to dress up the look. Don’t be afraid to whip out the white jeans, but we will advise you to deeply consider your tendency for spills before you do. Above all, opt for casual and comfortable because the afternoon will surely be a busy one!

You might think you know “when” and “where” details from the name, but the treat that is Frist Friday boasts even more than just an evening at the beloved art museum. For the March edition of the monthly event, themed “Across the Pond,” head to the Frist to experience incredible and interactive art from the exhibitions A Sporting Vision: The Paul Mellon Collection of British Sporting Art and Van Gogh, Monet, Degas and Their Times: The Mellon Collection of French Art. Catch a number of live performances, hear gallery talks, check out the mini-tours and enjoy bites and brews from a number of local vendors. Mark your calendar and don’t miss Frist Friday this March!
What to Wear: Whether you’re gathering your whole clan or heading out for date night, Frist Friday presents an opportunity for a variety of wardrobe choices. We love any event that gives us an excuse to wear a great pair of jeans, and this is the perfect opportunity to spice them up with a springy blouse or fun pair of shoes (maybe even peep those open toes for the first time this season). For casual yet stylish comfort, go for a jumpsuit that can be dressed up with heels or down with a great pair of kicks. We’re also loving the way these looks can transition well with Nashville’s fickle weather!
