Welcome to perhaps the most sentimental time of year. Summer is filled with graduations, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and family holidays such as Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day and vacations yielding dozens of snapshots that capture the memories and fun. And just like that, our pictures end up in the digital world, sucking up precious space on our devices or, worse, in the dark hole that is the cloud. If your phone looks anything like ours, it is filled to the brim with photos, which means one thing: it’s time for a clean-out.
Just as your purse, desk, closet and attic often need a routine purging, so does your phone. It may seem as painful as doing your taxes or cleaning out your gutters, but the end result is worth it. Spend some quality time with your phone, and turn your digital pictures into time-honored, hard-copy photos. We chatted with the folks at The Beveled Edge and got some great pointers for making it as easy as possible to get hard copy photos printed and framed, leaving us with beautiful, tangible pictures to enjoy for years to come.
Step 1: Print them out.
Make this summer’s project to tackle the mess that is your photo library and get those precious images off your device and into your hands once and for all. The good news? It is easier than you think. Photo printers are available for purchase from top names like Canon, Fuji and Hewlett Packard. Additionally, there are plenty of places — both brick-and-mortar stores and online businesses — that will print your pictures as well. Walgreens, Staples, Shutterfly and Costco are just a few to check out. For really nice prints, local company Chromatics can help you out. They’ve been around for 35 years and are well-respected in the local photography industry for the quality work they produce. It may cost you a little more than the drugstore prints, but you’ll definitely notice the difference.
Step 2: Frame them up!
Your photos are important and precious keepsakes and are too great not to be display throughout your home. They awaken the memory of an event, and there is no better way to showcase these memories than in a stunning frame. So once your photos are printed, The Beveled Edge can help you either select a frame from the huge selection, or they can custom frame them for you.
Step 3: Style your display.
Technology makes it easy to print pictures, and The Beveled Edge makes it easy to frame. Perhaps you’re giving your framed masterpiece as a gift. It will definitely be a treasured keepsake. But you may be wanting to display your piece(s) in your home, which is just as fabulous. After all, there is perhaps nothing more cherished than a wall or shelf full of family photos. The key is finding the perfect styling display. Check out the photos below, styled by Julie Couch of Julie Couch Interiors, for a bit of inspiration.
Enjoy your beautiful photos and make sure you do your print-and-frame purge at least once a year to keep your beautiful images always nearby and your phone free to capture even more lasting memories!
