We hope you are gathering with friends and family this holiday weekend. If you are, we have a delicious twist on a Bloody Mary, a song list you will want to play over and over again and, because we love our shoes, a perfect spring sandal to kick off pedicure season. Shake off the winter blues and embrace spring! Cheers everyone!

Bourbon Bloody Mary

You’ve probably substituted gin or tequila at some point for the vodka in your bloody. But have you tried bourbon? We made ours here with Maker’s Mark Bourbon. We’ve been told that the Maker’s 46 makes for an even finer cocktail, but whatever your price point, sip and enjoy!

  • 1.5 ounces Maker’s Mark Bourbon
  • 1 cup Bloody Mary mix (personal favorites include Bobbo’s, Zing Zang, Walker’s and Charleston Bloody Mary Mix)
  • Fresh cut lemons and limes
  • Garnishes: celery, green olives, pickled okra, bacon … all are good!

April Playlist: Classic Country

You need some tunes to celebrate spring, right? Our playlist, via Spotify, is the perfect accompaniment to your cocktail. These are all classic country songs. Chilling on a spring evening after a long week, or cooking up biscuits on a Sunday morning to old country songs is just the best!

Spring Sandals

No brand of shoes says “the sun is back” better than Jack Rogers. These white sandals are perfect with your jeans, your white jeans, shorts, skirts and dresses. Weekend trip? Throw these in the bag, as they work for lazy strolls and then off to dinner. We found ours at Monkee’s (locations include Birmingham, Nashville, Louisville and more); they can also be found online here (also available in brown) for $148.

Jack Rogers are iconic summer shoes. These are $148.

I’m usually a fan of bright pink nails for early spring, but this navy Essie called Style Cartel is just as cute! Yep, spring does not require only pinks … it has a dark side. And that dark side is navy. Navy nail color is hot for spring, but I must admit that I’m more keen for a darker cobalt blue, as I want a little more pop of color, but still in the darker blue realm.

I’ve not matched my manicure and pedicure color in … decades. But I’m feeling all matchy-matchy after writing this fashion story on the revival of the two-piece matching set for your wardrobe. I was inspired and matched my nails, as well!
