As Kroger experiences higher levels of traffic, stores are looking for individuals to fill immediate job openings in many locations. The company hopes these efforts will benefit those who have recently been displaced from jobs due to the current health crisis. “We have positions available in most all our stores,” says Melissa Eads, Corporate Affairs Manager for the Kroger Nashville division. “We are expediting the hiring process in order to get people to work quickly.”

The company’s efforts will put individuals to work in just a matter of days, and as of Tuesday, March 17, the company has hired more than 2,000 individuals. With both full-time and part-time positions available, average pay starts at $11.75 per hour and openings are available in almost every department, including grocery stockers, cashiers and pickup associates.

In light of the current health crisis, Middle Tennessee stores have also adjusted hours to 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., allowing employees more time to stock shelves and clean stores. In addition, Melissa says associates are encouraged to follow the CDC‘s suggested hygiene practices, and they are switching in and out more often to allow for hand washing. Kroger is also asking employees to monitor their health closely and stay home if they are or someone in their household is ill.
