Every now and then I hear someone say, “There’s nothing under $1000 at Jamie.” Well, I put that statement to the test and quite frankly, it doesn’t ring true. There are literally hundreds of fabulous finds at Jamie that fall into a price point I am more than comfortable with. $129 cashmere sweaters and $18 tank tops are just the starting point. Sure, you’ll also find gorgeous furs and fine jewelry (which is why you must ring that blasted buzzer to get in – but I wouldn’t work with all that jewelry and fur without a buzzer either – it’s a matter of safety). This store provides amazing customer service and the selection of merchandise will simply amaze you. Jamie is a shopping experience, and a good one. Go ahead, press the buzzer and come on in:
After the flood, Jamie had some damage to repair and the “new” store has both a new awning and an updated layout. No longer do you walk through the front door into the expensive side of Jamie. Now, you enter into a comfortable mix of high-end and everyday. You walk into a room with Hudson Jeans and $75 tops as well as $1200 boots and $89 shoes. In fact, shoes – at all price points – are spread throughout the store as an invitation to walk anywhere and everywhere.
The new set-up makes the curious shopper, who is hesitating to press that buzzer, feel far more at ease. The shoppers coming in and out in yoga gear, hiking boots and no makeup also give you a sense of “we’ll take you like you are.” The amount of space to sit and converse with a friend also makes it clear that Jamie aims to provide a gathering place to shop, but also to relax and talk.
So again, my message is this: We all know that Jamie sells really gorgeous high-end clothing. But, Jamie does offer more comfortable price points for your everyday needs as well.
As proof, here are some wonderful finds. A thanks to Gigi, daughter of Jamie, for walking me through the store:
I also need to mention that Jamie sells Tory Burch. Not all my friends are fans of Tory, but I am, and Jamie is one of only two places in Nashville that sells her line. And, trying on is far better than guessing online!
Now, for some pricier items: I’m not a fur girl myself, but I fell under the spell and had to try on these two pieces:
I did not get a picture of the $2,250 Oscar dress that was simply stunning. It’s akin to wearing art. And, the Marni….. I love Marni….
The evening wear available at Jamie is stunning. I saw cocktail dresses starting under $300 and continuing all the way up. There is a wide range of styles and prices, but the unifying factor is that the eye that chooses these dresses is good, really good. With all the black/white-tie galas Nashville hosts, it’s plain to see why Jamie is the first place many go when searching for the perfect dress. And, why so many stylists look here for that perfect dress for the sure-to-be-photographed starlet.
Slane & Slane jewelry is loved by many. I love it for its beauty and for the fact that two sisters design the collection. In Nashville, it’s available only at Jamie. Prices start at $225 for earrings. There are many other fabulous jewelers represented in the fine jewelry department. I stole this compilation picture from the Jamie website:
So, what’s the one brand I fell head-over-heels for – so hard that it’s been infiltrating my dreams? InHabit. Here is just one of the sweaters I want:
Jamie is more than “just” a boutique. Jamie is a jewelry store, a fur store, a boutique, an alterations center (yes, they can help you at the point of sale with alterations – such a huge benefit!), a cosmetics store, and a full-service salon. So, if you don’t know Jamie, get to know this store. I think you’ll like the fact that you did. In a world of boutiques with loud music and overcrowded showrooms, Jamie stands out as an oasis of calm with some of the best clothes – at a wide range of price points – in the entire south.
