Brunch is a lovely, lovely thing. As the meal between breakfast and lunch, it is a great excuse to overindulge in all things savory and sweet while washing the meal down with something strong. Brunch can be boozy. Whether nursing a hangover or quietly sipping your way into a nap, take your chance with bottomless mimosas, dive into a well-topped Bloody Mary or make a beeline for the Bellinis. But alcohol isn’t the only opportunity to indulge. Perhaps indulgence comes in the form of fine French ingredients, non-traditional cuisine or Southern favorites. Check out these eight local eateries for an authentic Nashville brunch experience that everyone should have at least once!
The Flipside
2403 12th Ave. S., Nashville, TN 37212 • (615) 292-9299
Brunch hours: Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The half-pound of crispy bacon, tots or chicken and waffles may be the foundation of The Flipside’s brunch menu, but their Bloody Marys are by far the most talked about brunch item. For $12, order 2-for-1 Bloody Marys, mimosas, Bellinis or sangria. But we suggest kicking it up a notch and ordering the piled-high Big Fix Bloody Mary. With everything from olives and pickles to bacon, chicken and crab, the toppings on this brunch cocktail are nothing short of spectacular. Unfortunately the Big Fix is not included in the 2-for-1 special, but it is worth the extra pennies.
Go for these indulgent items: Big Fix Bloody Mary; tots covered in avocado, bacon, cheese dip, fried egg and scallions; 2-for-1 drinks

The Big Fix Bloody Mary is piled high with olives, pickles, tots, bacon, chicken and crab!

In addition to special brunch offerings, The Flipside‘s full menu is also available during brunch.
SILO
1121 Fifth Ave. N., Nashville, TN 37208 • (615) 750-2912
Brunch hours: 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
SILO is another local favorite that embraces the traditions of Southern cooking while incorporating surprising elements into their dishes. Yes, you will find eggs (it is brunch after all), but they will be served in a deviled trio, on chorizo Benedict and as the main star in huevos rancheros. You will also find buttermilk biscuits, not lathered with butter, but fried as beignets. And the chicken is fried, but only before being doused in some of hottest sauce we have ever tasted and topped with a pickle. Wash down some of the Southern goodness with a $5 mimosa or Bloody Mary and walk away without spending a fortune.
Go for these indulgent items: hot chicken sliders, chorizo Benedict, $5 mimosas and Bloody Marys

Trust us when we say SILO‘s hot chicken sliders are HOT!

Brunch hours: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The brunch offered at this Midtown brasserie will delight the finest of Francophiles. The pain au chocolat, beignets, crêpes, Benedict and Croque Madame are all crafted with an appreciation for traditional French cuisine. The food is to die for, but Le Sel’s punch bowl is a showstopper. The punch is made with your choice of gin or bourbon and is served by the bowl ($50) or the glass ($12). We don’t recommend self-indulging in the entire bowl, but it is perfect for sharing with friends.

Fin & Pearl’s focus is more seafood than Southern, but with menu items like shrimp and grits, chicken fried chicken in waffles, farm eggs and oyster n biscuits, it is indisputably both. The shrimp and grits is not the expected combination of cheesy grits, grilled shrimp and chorizo, but instead, boursin white corn grits, crispy Gulf shrimp, spicy Caribbean sauce and a poached egg. Instead of coming topped with gravy, the biscuits are served with sesame-fried oysters, scrambled eggs and bacon clam chowder.
