House: A Social Eatery soft-opened in The Nations on July 1, 2016 and I had to check it out. First impressions are that this place is a keeper. House opened in the location long occupied by The Nation’s pioneering restaurant The Stone Fox. It’s similarly cozy and welcoming and we’re excited to go back.

Happy Hours (Social Hours): Monday through Friday, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. to close.
Things that make House stand out: it serves brunch all day, there is an entire section of coffee drinks — spiked and non-spiked, the appetizers are great and I went with a cheese dip snob, my 12-year old son. He thinks the cheese dip here is one of the best in town, high praise to be sure.
For our order, we started with the aforementioned cheese dip as well as the shrimp spring rolls and some fried green tomatoes:
We also tried the Nations’ burger (it’s really big) with fries, the vegetable omelette with goat cheese and the toast stack which is French toast with cranberries, pecans and bacon … fabulous bacon. I wish we had had more people with us as I wanted to try the shrimp n’ grits … ah, an excuse to go back!
After seeing a video of the bloody mary bar which is served each Saturday and Sunday, starting at 10 a.m., I’m anxious to try it out. And, the patio out back looks perfect to embrace the outdoors.
