My perfect night may have just been defined: at home with a meal picked up from Miel with some Trent Dabbs playing in the background. All smart phones are put away. Scrabble is in on the coffee table and my glass of red wine is never empty.
First let’s discuss my crush on Trent Dabbs and why I just bought all sorts of his music on itunes:
Now, I am by no means an “in-the-know” music girl. I love music and usually listen to Lightning 100 in the car or at home – especially on Wednesday nights when they showcase local, Nashville talent. But, when it comes to remembering the name of a song or band that that I like, I’m a mess. It’s as if my brain short circuits here. I know, it’s sacrilege in this town to admit to this shortcoming. But, all that to say, I think (and don’t we all think this about ourselves?) that when I do actually notice the name of the band or the person, it’s because they truly stand out. So, here is my “WOW” moment of music that I just discovered on the blog Bleugrass Boys: listen to this guy Trent Dabbs.
I mean, do you have the same instant crush that I have?
Check out his website as Trent is releasing a new album, with a title that made my heart skip a beat, Southerner, on Feb. 22. But, he has five other albums from which you can get an immediate fix. Nashville, Atlanta and Birmingham readers: he’s playing at small venues in your city in the next month. Check him out live: www.trentdabbs.com
I can not think of a better pairing for my “perfect night in” than a meal for 2 picked up at Miel. I know – a ton of you just thought, “What? Miel does take-out?” Why, yes indeed. Everyday except Monday.
We just sampled the roasted seasonal vegetables and a side of greens at the USN Evening Class that Elizabeth and I taught last week – “How to have a dinner party without breaking a sweat.” Everyone in attendance was impressed by the Miel dishes and I could not get enough of either item. I’m not a beet lover, but when Miel makes them, apparently I am.
Here is the Everyday Take-Out Menu from Miel. All orders can be called in as early as 12:30 PM and picked up after work. And, there is a special take-out dinner for Valentine’s Day. Shhhh…. it’s our Style Blueprint Deal fro SATURDAY, so be on the lookout as we only have a limited number to sell – at over half off!
For those of you who have yet to experience Miel, this gem of a restaurant is located off of Charlotte Ave, adjacent to the Sylvan Park and Richland-West End neighborhoods. With Meil’s organic farm just 10 minutes away, food is fresh, seasonal, and fabulous.

So, could this be your perfect night in as well?
