I’ve been wanting to try Burger Up for the past few months. I was so excited when it first opened this past spring as Burger Up features local grass fed beef, vegetarian options and a totally cool vibe. As a big fan of Miranda’s other establishment, Frothy Monkey, I had high hopes walking into her newest venture on Tuesday.
The menu immediately lets you know that this is no ordinary burger joint:

Elizabeth and I went for lunch here yesterday since we had just come from the opposite end of the building – where Two Moon Gallery is located. We were making last minute plans for our SB Gifts and Accessories Show which kicks off Wednesday night and is is full swing Thursday – click here for details.
As a side note, it was abundantly clear that parking can be hard during lunch. We HIGHLY suggest parking just across the street at Sevier Park if you are coming to the SB Gifts and Accessories show on Thursday during the day. Wednesday night attendees should be fine with street parking or the parking lot around back.
Burger Up lived up to all the hype and expectation. I ate way too much. I’m writing this Tuesday night and I’m not sure I can eat dinner. It was just so dang good and I kept eating, and eating, and eating…
Elizabeth and I both got salads and we split the sweet potato fries. Time to confess – I ate most of them, leaving almost none for Elizabeth! I’m a big fan of sweet potato fries and these are excellent.
The vibe at Burger Up is just what you would expect in the ultra cool 12South district. The big windows, sleek design, dark tones and pale wood mixed together provide the perfect expectation of “something different” but still keep the atmosphere comfortable – just as a burger joint should be. And, there is a fully stocked bar for a more grownup experience. You will feel like your cool meter just ratcheted up after dining here.
Our kick-off party is Wednesday night for the SB Gifts and Accessories Show. Tickets are $50 and the proceeds benefit locally-based charity Mocha Club. With your ticket, you’ll get a 15% off coupon to experience Burger Up for yourself after the party. If you want to head down to Burger Up first, just check in and we’ll get you the coupon and then see you back an hour later. We’ll have two wines and a festive Prosecco cocktail for our party as well as some small bites from Burger Up and Kateelayne Bakery. With your ticket you will also receive a fabulous scarf from fashionABLE, a division of Mocha Club, as well as a certificate for a free Pumpkin Peel from SkinMB. To order your ticket for Wednesday, click here. And, yes, we will have some available for walk-ups!
The show will run Thursday as well, with a $5 cash or check contribution to Mocha Club, from 10-6 at Two Moon Gallery. Our TN women artisans are incredible. Click here for more details.
