Ahhhh, the holidays. It’s the busiest time of the year, which means more eating on the go and more opportunities to grab a handful of sweet treats. But don’t let the to-go or delivery factors — much less the endless supplies of holiday-themed Hershey’s Kisses and M&Ms — be at the expense of your waistline or gastrointestinal health. This year, greet the holiday season head-on and make life a little easier on yourself with one of these fantastic local food delivery and takeout options that are not only convenient, but much healthier than the drive-thru and can feed just you or your whole family.
*SB Note: We picked locations where you can get a hearty, healthy dinner for one — or for a family — and that specialize in take out or delivery.

“Healthy delivery” may sound like an oxymoron, but that’s not the case with Meel, a food delivery service that delivers locally sourced ingredients each week to subscribers, allowing them to put together healthy meals in 45 minutes or less. Each crate delivered to your doorstep is filled with fresh, perfectly portioned ingredients and the accompanying recipes; all you have to do is put it together. Some of the locally sourced ingredients come from Hummus Chick, Ousley Ouch Salsa, Bountiful Blessing, Porter Road Butcher, Delvin Farms and many more. Different subscription levels are available, and recipes are mostly organic, non-GMO ingredients with limited dairy and gluten. Current delivery areas include Green Hills, Belle Meade, Hillsboro-West End, Sylvan Park, Belmont, 12South and, as of last week, The Gulch.
