Some events come together with ease. All you need is an appetizer here, fresh flowers there … and voila! The perfect party! Other events take planning, preparation and color coordinating. This Easter brunch for the whole family falls into the latter category. Thankfully, event designer extraordinaire Blair, of Sarah Blair Event Design, planned a picture-perfect day that was as enjoyable as it was lovely. With a focus on spring colors and ways to keep the kids happy, plus a bit of legwork, the end result was well worth the effort.

While the decorations took center stage, a game of egg knocking was the most memorable. A game Blair’s husband learned from his father, who learned from his father, and so forth, egg knocking allows all ages to participate. The rules are simple: form a bracket for the players, each player chooses a dyed egg of their choice, one opponent holds their egg on the bottom and the other, on the top. The opponents tap their eggs until one cracks. The winner (indicated by the uncracked egg) moves on to the next round.

“For me, Easter is the easiest holiday because I love the happy spring colors. I usually start with fabric for inspiration. For the brunch, it was a pink and yellow fabric you will see in different places,” Blair tells us.

Of course, Blair wanted the food to look as good as it tastes!

Kids (and adults) had their pick of the litter!

With each seat set with an egg carton of jelly beans and cupcakes for everyone, the kids’ table was the place to be. “We let the kids run free,” Blair says. “It was fun for them to have their own table.”

Even the napkins were on theme! Blair doesn’t let even the smallest details go unnoticed.

Watermelon is the perfect treat for all ages. Plus, it adds a pop of color to the table.

It also makes the perfect garnish to a watermelon juice drink. Add a touch of booze, and the parents will enjoy this beverage as well.

Each kiddo walked away with a personalized Easter bag. For Blair, personalization is key. It makes each guest feel extra special.

Thank you to Sarah Blair Event Design for the inspiration and Mary Craven Photography for capturing the day so beautifully!

Happy Easter, everybody!
