The seasons are changing, and as the temperatures begin to cool, we prepare to transition our wardrobes from summer to fall. In true back-to-school spirit, we have done our fashion homework and found stylish, seasonal looks that pass the test! Whether you’re sipping on brews at Art on Tap, sampling local fare at Zoo Rendezvous or dancing to the music at Cooper-Young Festival, these outfits from Kittie Kyle, Betty Hays Boutique, Oak Hall and Ivory Closet are sure to meet the needs of your social calendar.
Two amazing women from the Junior League of Memphis, Shakia Clark and Shaterra Reed, graciously took time away from their busy schedules to model for our shoot. Also featured is our brand-new StyleBlueprint intern, Caitlin McGill, a senior business administration major with a focus in fashion merchandising at University of Memphis. These gals made each look come to life, each with their own unique and electric energy, complemented by the ever-lovely Orpheum Theatre as a backdrop. We were inspired, and we hope you are too!

Warm September evenings in Memphis are glorious, so what better way to spend them than wandering through a gorgeous garden, sampling beers from around the world and tasting local foods? Art on Tap at Dixon Gallery and Gardens was Memphis’ first beer festival, and this year the tradition continues. So get back to the city’s roots — and hops — with this annual evening of art, brews and good times at the Dixon!
What to Wear: An evening at the gallery calls for an artistic edge to your style. Don’t shy away from a pair of statement earrings or fun pattern. Also, since the event takes place both inside and out, be sure to dress for both the humidity and the air conditioning. These looks from Kittie Kyle, Betty Hays Boutique, and Ivory Closet are just the ticket!
The Event: Zoo Rendezvous
- Saturday, September 9, 2017
- 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
- Tickets are $200.

You won’t want to miss A Night at the R.I.T.Z. (Rendezvous in the Zoo), this year’s theme for Zoo Rendezvous. There will be local food and drink, four stages of entertainment and plenty of fun to be had at the zoo’s largest fundraiser of the year. Mingle with friends and fellow Memphians, and enjoy the thrill of being inside the zoo after hours!
What to Wear: Don’t be deceived by the word “R.I.T.Z.” — Zoo Rendezvous is not an overly formal affair. The organizers describe it as “dressy chic,” so this is a great time to be bold with your style choices! With chunky necklaces, colorful scarves and patterned pieces, Kittie Kyle, Betty Hays Boutique and Ivory Closet have the perfect looks for this outdoor evening extravaganza.
The Event: Cooper-Young Festival
- Saturday, September 16, 2017
- 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Free and open to the public
- For more information, visit cooperyoungfestival.com.
The Cooper-Young Historic District has color, creativity and flair all its own, making it an invaluable thread in Memphis’ cultural fabric. Cooper-Young Festival embodies that very spirit. Celebrate the flavor and style of the neighborhood with art, live music and artisan crafts all day long at this rockin’ outdoor party!
What to Wear: Festival wear is hip, fun and always casual. Go a little boho with ripped jeans, fun accessories and flowy silhouettes. Since the festival is at the mercy of Mother Nature, layering is always a good idea. These effortlessly trendy outfits from Oak Hall and Ivory Closet have us in a festive mood!
Thanks to Shakia and Shaterra for spending the morning with us! Between their fast-paced careers in law and marketing and volunteering with Junior League Memphis, these women stay busy, and we are grateful for their time. And thanks to our new intern, Caitlin.
Thanks to The Orpheum Theatre for serving as a stunning backdrop. Their Broadway season kicks off in September with The Lincoln Center Theater Production of Rogers & Hammerstein’s The King and I. With breathtaking melodies and a compelling story, we can’t wait to catch this classic Broadway revival!
Lastly, thanks to photographer Abbey Bratcher for sharing her time, talents and incredible eye for photography with us.
