We’re SO CLOSE to September! The stress of the school year beginning has begun to wear off, the heat is beginning to slowly dissipate and we are ready to get out for some fun Memphis happenings! Summertime is always a blast but there is nothing like feeling those cooler evening breezes as we make our way into fall. We can’t wait for some exciting theme parties this month, including the inaugural Ol’ Man River Moonshine Ball. Zoo Rendezvous will spotlight the Zoo’s brand new Zambezi River Hippo Camp exhibit this year and the Dixon Gallery and Gardens Art on Tap celebrates its 21st year! We went to Lansky 126, Betty Hays Boutique and Sachi for some outfit inspiration and found some spectacular options to wear to each of these distinctly Memphis events. Take a look!
The Event: Art on Tap
- Friday, September 9, 2016, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- At the Dixon Gallery and Gardens
- Free for Young at Art Members; $30 in advance for Dixon members; $40 for non-members and day-of tickets
- Purchase tickets here; must be 21 and over
Art on Tap is turning legal this year with their 21st event! The spread will be beer and food from all over Memphis, including: Acre, Belle A Southern Bistro, Frost Bake Shop, Bernoulli Brew Works, Ghost River Brewing, Bluff City Brewers and so many more! Not only will you get to enjoy delicious food and live entertainment but a raffle also will be played for prizes like a Yeti cooler or the VIP Dixon Experience.
What to wear: Art on Tap calls for a laid-back yet chic look to enjoy the gardens while showing off your fashion sense.
The Event: Zoo Rendezvous
- Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 7 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
- At the Memphis Zoo
- Tickets are available here for $200
- 21 and over
Zoo Rendezvous is Memphis Zoo’s largest fundraiser of the year, offering an exciting night out for Memphians, with food and drinks from some of our favorite Memphis restaurants and bars. The theme this year is “An Evening in Africa,” which flows quite naturally after the recent opening of the Zambezi River Hippo Camp exhibit. Proceeds from this event benefit the Memphis Zoological Society.
What to wear: For Zoo Rendezvous, striking prints and fun accessories are what the wild things will be wearing.
The Event: Ol’ Man River Moonshine Ball
- Friday, September 16, 2016, from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.
- At the Gibson Guitar Factory
- Tickets are available here for $200, individually; up to $10,000 for a table
Rising from the ashes of last year’s final Blues Ball, the inaugural Moonshine Ball falls on B.B. King’s birthday and will be celebrated in style on the Gibson Guitar Factory rooftop, “Terrace in the Sky.” The Memphis Charitable Foundation will present astronaut Buzz Aldrin as an honorary chairman under the glow of the full moon. Food, drinks, music and fireworks promise to make this a night to remember. This event supports Memphis musicians and children’s charities with the help of every attendee.
What to wear: It’s time to live it up at this rooftop party with something fun and funky! Try wearing something new that highlights the excitement of the evening – fringe, lace and sequins all fit the bill. We love the looks we found at these stores!
We are so excited about the transition from summer to fall fashion and all of the events coming up this season. Enjoy!
Stay stylish, Memphis!
