It’s finally summertime in Memphis, and we couldn’t be more ready to celebrate! From fundraisers to concerts to galas, there are so many amazing opportunities around Memphis to kickstart your fun-filled summer. So, to free up some time for you to focus on having a blast, we’ve chosen three June events and paired them with the perfect outfits from a few of our favorite Memphis boutiques. You’ll be ready to take on June in style!
We picked some cocktail-casual looks from Betty Hays Boutique, Oak Hall and Sachi, accessorized with pieces from Dazzle. Our models are three incredible women from Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital: Karen Carlisle, President of Carlisle Corporation and Preceding Immediate Past President of the Le Bonheur Club; Chrissie Tashie, Marketing Chair for Le Bonheur Club; and Jamila Smith-Young, nurse practitioner at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Crosstown Concourse serves as the chic backdrop for both Le Bon Appetit and today’s What to Wear fashion shoot. So, whether you are enjoying amazing food at Le Bon Appetit, sipping cold beer at the Sixth Annual Good People Good Beer Gala or enjoying the tunes at Live at the Garden, there is a look here for you.
The Event: Le Bon Appetit
- June 9, 2018
- Tickets start at $250.
- For more information, visit lebonappetit.org.
What’s better than dressing up, enjoying amazing company and eating and drinking delicious food and cocktails? The answer: Doing all of these things while helping children. Le Bon Appetit will feature creative culinary bites from more than 45 nationally and locally renowned chefs, specially crafted cocktails from local mixologists, as well as craft beer and select wines. There will also be a silent auction featuring amazing wines, one-of-a-kind experiences and several food and entertainment items. Proceeds from this event benefit Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
What to Wear: The attire is cocktail-casual, so go with the classic cocktail look or little black dress, and spice it up with some colorful heels or bold statement jewelry.
The Event: Sixth Annual Good People Good Beer Gala
- June 16, 2018
- General registration is $85, or register for free and raise $200 through your fundraising page before the gala.
- For more information, visit operationbrokensilence.org.
A beer event that benefits children in need? Count us in! Enjoy five tasting brews and kegs from Wiseacre, dinner by The Gray Canary, cornhole, adult beer pong, dancing and more at this special and exciting dress-up gala. This event directly benefits Operation Broken Silence’s primary-level school at Yida Refugee Camp in South Sudan, where Operation Broken Silence supports 12 teachers and nearly 1,000 students.
What to Wear: This event is Roaring ’20s themed, which means break out your best speakeasy gear! Theme dressing can be tricky, so we’ve picked some slightly subtle ’20s looks in blush tones. So you can simply layer more costume-forward pieces once you arrive at the party, and easily transition back when you head out with friends for a nightcap!
The Event: Live at the Garden Presents Train
- June 29, 2018
- Season passes start at $170, and tickets for individual concerts start at $40.
- For more information, visit liveatthegarden.com.
A true Memphis staple, Live at the Garden features incredible musical artists in one of Memphis’ most fabulous venues, Memphis Botanic Garden. On June 29, Train will grace the stage. Since its start in 2001, Live at the Garden has grown into a must-attend summer event in Memphis. Sip on a beverage, relax and listen to some live music. You can bring in your own food and drinks, pre-order from the caterers or buy there. Live at the Garden has everything you need to make some magical summer memories.
What to Wear: Let’s face it — it’s hot. So stay cool while looking cute in a loose linen dress or fun pair of pants. Bright colors and patterns are especially appropriate at outdoor events like this one.
