It’s hard to believe, but the end of the year is almost here. The holidays are THE season for celebrating and entertaining, and we all want to look as festive and gorgeous as the season itself! We’ve picked three fun December events happening around town, and we’re here to help you look your best while partying it up.
Our featured events are the “Nutcracker” at The Orpheum, the Frank Sinatra 100th Birthday Celebration at The Peabody and the New Year’s Eve celebration on Beale. Check out looks below from local boutiques Red Velvet Vintage, Kittie Kyle and Lansky 126. Hope to see you out and about this month, and happy holidays!
EVENT: Frank Sinatra 100th Birthday Celebration Dinner at Chez Philippe
• Saturday, December 12, 2015
• 6:30 p.m.

Commemorate a century of Ol’ Blue Eyes with a four-course feast at one of Memphis’ finest restaurants. The meal includes some of Frank Sinatra’s favorite things, like traditional Italian cuisine and Jack Daniel’s whiskey. Cost for the event is $85 per person, not including tax and gratuity. A Jack Daniel’s flight is available for an additional $30.
What to wear: A swanky meal inside the elegant Peabody Hotel provides the perfect backdrop for playing up your glamorous side. Add some classic formal wear and vintage pieces for this evening of celebrating an American jazz and cinema icon. We picked Red Velvet Vintage for its retro glam … much like Sinatra himself.
EVENT: Ballet Memphis’ “Nutcracker” at The Orpheum
• Friday, December 13 through Sunday, December 15, 2015
• Evening shows are at 7:30 p.m.; matinees are at 2 p.m.
• Learn more and purchase tickets here
To kick off this festive month, head to The Orpheum in Downtown Memphis for Ballet Memphis’ rendition of the classic Tchaikovsky ballet. This performance features more than 100 professional dancers and children, and attendees can take photos with and have autographs signed by Clara, the Nutcracker prince and the Sugar Plum Fairy in the theater lobby immediately following each performance. Tickets range from $9.50 to $74.50 and are available at orpheum-memphis.com.
What to wear: An event at The Orpheum offers a great chance to dress to the nines and add a little sparkle. Keeping in touch with this season’s trends, think heels (since you’ll be seated most of the night), fun tights or hose, and lush fabrics like fur, leather and velvet. For these looks, we visit Memphis boutique Kittie Kyle.
