April is here, and if you’re already maxed out on mudbugs, up your culture game with a dose of fashion, interior design and international brews. Start with the latest trends in fashion at Memphis Fashion Week, the cutting edge in interior design at Art by Design and palate education with sips from international brew masters at Memphis Brewfest. And we’re not letting you take a rain check on these fabulous events just because you claim a closet conundrum! We’ve taken all the guesswork out of the “What to Wear” equation with four ultra-chic looks for each of these April events.
To add an extra layer of fashion and fun, we have perhaps the coolest foursome of local lifestyle bloggers, a.k.a. #BluffCityLights, serving as our oh-so-chic models! You might recognize their names and fabulous blogs: Mary Conley of Living LeReve, Alexandra Nicole of City Chic Living, “PIP Megan” of Pretty in Pink Megan and Collins Tuohy Smith of Collins’ Closets. The fashion minds and stylists behind Memphis Fashion Design Network teamed up with some of our favorite local boutiques — Eclectic Eye, Joseph, Oak Hall, Sachi and Spruce — to ensure these lifestyle bloggers extraordinaire were suitably styled.
So, get ready to see these fab four model the looks for each of these upcoming April events — and they’re photographed at the uber-hip Crosstown Concourse, no less!

Celebrate fashion by taking in the style of local and regional designers, photographers, models and boutiques. This fashion-filled, four-day event begins on Wednesday, April 5, with a kick-off party and the one and only Nicole Miller as she shares her latest designs in an exclusive trunk show. And don’t miss the Chickasaw Oaks preview party with a VIP lounge and trunk show on Thursday, April 6. Then on Friday, the models will hit the runway to share Nicole Miller’s and other headlining designers’ latest lines.
Perhaps the most exciting is the Emerging Memphis Designer Project at the Memphis College of Art, where aspiring local designers debut their spring/summer mini collections before an enthusiastic, fashion-loving crowd. Judges and industry insiders will award the winners a scholarship to the Memphis College of Art continuing education classes and a membership to The Lab by Memphis Fashion Design Network. This fashion-forward event supports the Memphis Fashion Design Network’s mission to nurture, cultivate and grow the fashion design industry in Memphis through education, workforce development, manufacturing and fashion design infrastructure and, of course, fabulous showcases of design talent like Memphis Fashion Week!
What to wear: “Memphis Fashion Week outfits are all over the place when it comes to dressiness,” says Abby Phillips, director of the Memphis Fashion Design Network. “We love the fact that each individual works hard at showcasing their personal style and amping it up a bit. There is always a lot of color, tall heels and attitude. It’s a fun event that really has no style limits.” Let your inner fashionista roar with creative, fashion-forward looks. Whether trendy or timeless, have fun and let fashion be your medium for artistic and personal expression. It is fashion week, after all!

Beer lovers rejoice! Memphis’ favorite world beer tasting festival is back. Gather near the bluffs along the Mississippi River on the beautiful courtyard of AutoZone Park, and grab a crisp brew on a clear spring day to cure “what ales you!” From American craft beer to the finest, most exotic beers in the world, this 21+ event features over 100 beer labels and breweries, so your beer knowledge — and palate — will surely expand, and for a good cause as all proceeds support Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy. With all the great brews, plus entertainment by the local ’90s band Red Letter Day, Memphis Brewfest is expected to sell out, so nab your tickets today!
What to wear: The name of the game is laid-back comfort. Given the hot and cold weather, layers are a must, and you might get christened by a brewski, so go with friendly fabrics and a devil-may-care attitude! “What we love about dressing for events like Brewfest is the ability to layer pieces that you may not have thought to pair together,” says Abby. “We tried to find pieces for the girls that you could dress up or down depending on the event and what pair of shoes you put on. Memphis boutiques really do have unique pieces if you spend the time to work them into a fun and fashion-friendly outfit.”

Head to Propcellar — a vintage furniture and décor emporium on Summer Avenue — this April for Memphis’ most anticipated interior design event of the year, Art by Design. This three-day event features the design artistry of 13 of the Bluff City’s top interior design teams. Demonstrating an astonishing array of talent, style, furnishings and art, the designers create vignettes of perfectly styled rooms that will make jaws drop and heads turn. Kick off the weekend with a seated VIP dinner and exclusive sneak peek of the vignettes. Then, on Friday, rub elbows with the designers and other art lovers and enjoy drinks, heavy hors d’oeuvres, and enjoy some of Memphis’ finest musical entertainment among the well-coiffed interiors. Propcellar will open its doors on Saturday for the public to view these fabulous creations with art and design demonstrations and presentations scheduled throughout the day. And what’s even better? This stylish event benefits ArtsMemphis‘ ongoing support of more than 60 arts organizations and individual artists in our city. Don’t miss it!
What to wear: Exude vibrant artistic colors and striking design elements in your look for this art and design event. Don’t be afraid to embrace statement necklaces or eye-catching clutches, bold color or strong structured sleeves and shoulders. “Art by Design is a unique experience because you arrive to see beautiful vignettes of furniture and art, but the attire is just as beautiful,” says Abby. “We dressed our models in elevated cocktail attire for Art by Design’s seated dinner. For events like these, comfort is definitely on our minds, so we mixed outfit combinations from dresses, to pants, to jumpsuits. There is something to fit every woman for a night out surrounded by art.”
And thank you to the talented fashion minds behind the Memphis Fashion Design Network for styling this gorgeous photo shoot!
