You know that saying “good things come in a small packages”? Well, I was reminded of that expression as soon as I walked through the blue door at Nest in Germantown. Opened by sisters-in-law Susu Sneed and Susie Sneed in March, it is nestled next to Millstone Market off of Poplar and it is one of the cutest little stores I have ever laid eyes on. The day I visited I had my little girl in tow, and in any other situation, this would be the equation: small store + 2 1/2 year old = a few bad looks and a lurking disaster. However, as soon as we walked in, we were welcomed with open arms and greeted with Susie Sneed’s smiling face. Honestly, she could be my new favorite person. We stayed for over an hour visiting with our new friend, and she was quick to pull out all the stops for my little one, even getting on the floor and coloring with her while I shopped and took pictures of all their fabulous finds. Let me tell you, if that’s not going above and beyond with customer service, I don’t know what is.
Although this shop is small, it certainly packs an impressive punch! The shop itself oozes with charm – the ladies are as sweet as pie, and it is so beautifully decorated that you feel like you are in someone’s cozy living room rather than a store. I could have literally taken one of everything home, and did walk away with some fabulous purchases, including one precious elephant, a baby happy for Lindsey that was quickly named Mimi by my little girl. From the delicious smelling Nest candles (one of Neiman’s best selling candles), to handmade jewelry by the talented Kate Oates, to beautiful and very affordable pottery, as well as one-of-a-kind home accent pieces, garden furniture and some of the most precious baby gifts ever made, Nest has unique gifts for most any occasion. So, if you are looking for an out-of-the-box gift with a lot of charm, or even just a pretty accessory to spruce up your home or yard, visit the ladies at Nest. But be warned: you may never want to leave, and you certainly won’t be leaving empty-handed.
