Just because there are fewer events happening this summer doesn’t mean you have to ditch all the fun. There is still plenty to do all around town, like sunset kayak tours and live music at wineries. So, let’s get to planning! Here are five ideas for the perfect Memphis summer outing.

Watch a Movie at Malco Summer Drive-In

Load up the family or grab your date, and head to the drive-in on Summer Avenue to watch a movie from the comfort of your car or picnic blanket. One of the best things about this summer outing is you can pack all the popcorn, snacks and drinks you want. Look for classic films (Jaws, anyone?) as well as new releases. For a complete list of movies and showtimes, click here. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are $20 per car. Malco Summer Drive In is located at 5310 Summer Avenue, Memphis , TN 38122. Kayak Memphis has guided sunset tours available by appointment at the Memphis River Park. Or if you want to ride on the water without a guide — before or after sunset — you can also rent a kayak, tandem kayak or stand-up paddleboard Thursday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with no reservation required. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this is a unique way to see spectacular views of the Memphis skyline. Kayaks and stand-up paddleboards can be rented from the Harbor on the Memphis Riverfront for $20 each. The price includes your choice of watercraft as well as a paddle and life vest.  Learn more at (901) 482-2942.
