Love this loveseat
A great little project and I know just where to find some fabric...!
When it comes to a good antique store I am like a kid in a candy store. There is just nothing else that brings a smile to my face like a good hunt for that perfect vintage find. Although my husband is convinced that antique stores are leading me down the path to hoarderville, I just cannot help myself, and if we are being honest, it comes very naturally. My mom is an avid antique fanatic as well and always knows the best spots to visit in Memphis. Hence, the reason I listened when she said she had found a new favorite haunt, the Antique Warehouse on Summer Ave. Although, you may have never known it was there ( I had no clue and drive down Summer just about every day) this Antique mall has been a staple on Summer Ave. for over 15 years. Located right next door to the Bike shop, just as you cross the overpass, Antique Warehouse is a true gem full of old school charm. Whether you are looking for that perfect piece of furniture, those cool old retro metal gliders, 1950’s kitchen ware for your dinner table, antique jewelry or even an old aluminum Christmas tree, Antique Warehouse delivers with flying colors. With over 50 booths, the friendliest employees and a special Saturday Sale every second Saturday of the month where everything over $10.00 is 20% off, Antique Warehouse is only making it harder for me to kick my habit to the curb. Good for me, bad for the hubs!

crazy for ikat
They even have leather options
Like lots of great Summer Ave. finds, this fabric store sits in a strip mall. They have several aisles of fabric bolsters that change out quite frequently and they even have remnants and a sale section as if the prices weren’t good enough already! I went in search of some fabric to do a cafe curtain in my kitchen and the one I fell in love with was just 4.99/ yard! I flipped! Perhaps the best part is that the friendly workers know their savvy shoppers are there for a bargain and have compiled a handy list of their go-to people for everything from upholstery to pillows (and window treatments!). I have included that list below for your reference.
Dale Lemon 351-9390
Cindy Harris 388-6922

Great Pair of Mercury Glass Lamps at TJ Maxx
How about this mirrored side table for under $150
My mom has taught me many important lessons in my 29 years: be kind, remember your manners, say your prayers, love your family and friends and always be in search of a good bargain. Yep, you read it right, the word bargain has been in my vocab from an early age and in my mind. When I hear bargain, I am out the door in a flash to find my next favorite thing! My husband’s worst nightmare, my little girl’s favorite errand to do with momma. Pretty sure it was one of her first words and it is quickly becoming one of her beloved stores as well. In the past, Tj Maxx has been my go to store for pretty much everything: clothes, shoes, purses, bath products, gifts, dog goodies and toys. However, in the past few years, I am happy to say that furniture and accessories for the home have also become a hot ticket in my house. Not only does Tj Maxx have great looking lamps, decorative pillows and accessories for your home, if you hit it on the right day, you can find stylish upholstered chairs and ottomans, end tables, mirrored chests and console tables. All designer looks, for half the price. Bottom Line: Tj Maxx= My little piece of Heaven and 1/2 my house.

Ken Rash on Summer 001
The Big Green Egg would make an eggcelent gift!
Great outdoor furniture at Ken Rash
Founded in 1971, Ken Rash’s has proved that outdoor entertaining never grows old and has become the go-to source for anyone who wants to outfit both their indoor and outdoor spaces in style.Located on Summer Ave., Ken Rash’s welcomes you into the wondrous world of all things outdoors. Showcasing some of the most posh and stylish outdoor furniture in one of the coolest showrooms I have ever seen, they truly know how to spruce up any living space. In addition to furniture selections which includes tables, chairs, couches, chairs and even outdoor beds, they also have just about every grill that you could ever imagine, one of their most popular grills being The Big Green Egg. This egg shaped grill has to be the most drooled over grill by every man on the planet, including my husband, who could literally just stare at one for hours on end. The Big Green Egg’s claim to fame is that it’s a three in one— it’s a grill, a smoker, and it bakes. It is ready to cook within 10 minutes and can withstand extreme temperatures through summer and winter. Speaking of winter, Ken Rash’s has you covered on that front as well with beautiful fire place sets for your home, fire pits for your outside porches and outdoor heaters that look like lamps….just reminding us that outdoor living can truly be 365 days out of the year!

The Flag Center
4550 Summer Avenue & Perkins
Nestled between 2 churches
“You’re a grand old flag, you’re a high flying flag and forever in peace may you waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaave…” A true patriot, I will never be without an American flag flying at my house but given the elements, I’ve had to replace my flag about every 2 years and even had a wooden pole snap once. My go-to spot when the time comes to replace a flag or their many accessories including poles, ropes, brackets, and other supporting units: the only flag-specific store in Memphis, The Flag Center, on Summer Ave. of course! Nestled between two churches and offering the best quality, MADE IN THE USA, flags at fair prices for over 24 years, these are folks you can trust for all of your flag needs! Flags sold at the Flag Center are guaranteed to adhere to the specifications of colors and graphic design as mandated by the Country, State, Civilian or Military organization it represents and their flags are the very same ones that are proudly displayed at the United Nations, numerous state capitals, foreign embassies and major military bases and ships around the world. Stop in and get your American flag, your festive outdoor decorative flags or even conveniently shop online and study-up on your flag flying etiquette on their website: http://www.flagcenter.com/index.php

Hubbard's is for the home
With a friendly staff and a neighborhood feel, Hubbard’s Hardware is a toned down version of a Home Depot or Lowes. Although they may not come with all the bells and whistles that a big box store has, you at least know you will not get lost in their endless aisles or walk around aimlessly trying to find someone to help you . With a shopping list that includes building and Hardware Supplies, Plumbing & Electrical Supplies, Carpet and Mattress, Screen & Window Repair, Glass Cutting, Key Cutting, Lock Re-keying, Blade Sharpening, Mulch, Flowers, and grills, I think it is safe to say that although Hubbard’s may seem like the underdog, they certainly give the bigger stores a run for their money.
