We have planned a citywide soirée with an eclectic collection of summertime FINDS. The Mid-South is home to a multitude of merchants who offer the best in antiques, art, home decor, accessories, clothing, jewelry and gifts. Welcome to this month’s gathering of our favorites!
HOME & GARDEN
One corner of The Urban Gardener is filled with a selection of colorful outdoor rugs made of recycled plastic. Add a bit of indoor comfort to any outdoor setting. A range of colors, patterns and sizes are available: 4’ x 6’ rugs are $55, 5’ x 8’ rugs are $95 and 6’ x 9’ rugs are $125.
We lit up when we spotted these wood beaded chandeliers at the Southern Avenue Company. These versatile, moderately sized fixtures would add updated, natural charm to a variety of rooms. They are $240.95 each.
Who can deny the convenient tradition of a lazy Susan? We discovered this one at Chestnut Hall in their At the Cabin collection, in which rustic furniture and accessories handcrafted in the USA take center stage. This lazy Susan was made by Amish craftsmen in Holmes County, OH, and is $125.
As part of Bingham & Broad’s mission to support local artisans, they offer a plentiful assortment of handmade brooms made by Sticks & Straw in Collierville, TN. This small, creative business uses antique equipment that predates 1900, and these would be an original housewarming gift. Inquire about custom-made options in your favorite colors, $12 to $45.
Sucre Shop birch wood utensils and Adjust-a-Bowl cork bowls are perfect for a biodegradable, renewable picnic. The utensils come in packs of 20 for $12; the antimicrobial, water- and stain-resistant cork bowls can be shaped, folded, rolled and tossed in the dishwasher. Medium bowls, $35, and large bowls, $50, are available at Ménage Fine Stationery & Gifts.
Do you need to make a-mends with a friend? (Sorry! We had to!) Give them a postal letter sewing kit, $14.95. The useful miniature kits have old-fashioned appeal in an original presentation. We found them at the Southern Avenue Company.
For the dog days of summer, treat your best friend to a Mississippi Made custom dog bed. The line of custom dog beds created by Hollywood Feed has an online design option to create a high-quality bed in a multitude of sizes, shapes, colors and patterns. In turn, these doggie recliners will blend nicely with home décor. Beds start at $19.99. The size and style pictured, $125.99, is one of their large, rectangular versions.
HEALTH & BEAUTY
Spa to go
Vanda Orchid Mist and Intensive Age Defying Hydrating Complex make an efficient pair for your tote bag. Both are from the June Jacobs Spa Collection, the signature therapy product line at Mona Esthetics. The mist, $48, refreshes and energizes the skin, while the cream, $24.99, has an SPF of 25 and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Bath time products
Make your bath the epitome of luxury with Côté Bastide products from France. Salts, lotions, soaps and more come in uplifting fragrances, with the most popular being amber, fig, grapefruit (pamplemousse) and fresh linen (Lin). Côté Bastide products are available at Social and range from $26 to $84.
The Ryan Patrick Salon boutique has one of the best ideas for a girlfriend happy that we have seen all summer! These scented bath balls are simple, colorful fun that come already wrapped with a special message on the label. As the bath salts wash away, enjoy a themed trinket in the center of each. Think “table poppers,” but for the bathtub; $6 each.
Color correcting cream
ADÉL AMOR Brightening CC Cream, a foundation and moisturizer in one, is hypoallergenic, oil-free and paraben-free, with an SPF of 20. Memphian and professional makeup artist Alexandra Nicole established the ADÉL AMOR cosmetics line with three core values: Makeup should offer health, flawlessness and results. All products are made in the USA. CC Cream is $26 at her shop, The Ivory Closet, located downtown.
