Sometimes when you have a family to feed or your office wants to order in, it can be difficult to settle on a restaurant that pleases everyone’s palate. Lest you spend your precious time racing around town to various establishments, there’s a better way: Meals In Motion.
Meals In Motion brings a world of culinary choices to your front door. This multi-restaurant delivery company, based in East Memphis, partners with local restaurants to provide a convenient way for locals to enjoy delicious meals from their favorite dining spots in the comfort of their own homes, offices, hotel rooms and anywhere else you may get hungry!
Meet the owners
Meals In Motion is owned and operated by Jackson and Abby Huffman, a husband-and-wife team who have been friends since the seventh grade, when they had every class together at White Station Middle School. The Huffmans were trained in the delivery service business by the owners of East Cooper Delivery in Charleston, SC, who were trained while in college in Boone, NC, and working at Boone Take Out.
Meet the team
Meals In Motion drivers are from all backgrounds. Some are local musicians, while others are students, and some are even daytime office workers. Case in point: Lyndsay Saunders, a Meals In Motion driver, just received her Ph.D last Friday.
Wondering who Meals In Motion works with? Well, Mike Miller at Patrick’s was the first restaurant owner to sign up with Meals In Motion, and six years later, the food delivery business has close to 20 of Memphis’ favorite dining establishments on their roster. Local favorites like Taziki’s, Patrick’s, Lucchesi’s, Las Delicias, Mortimer’s, Wang’s Mandarin House and many more make ordering out for a group of folks who undoubtedly are hungry for different things easier than you can imagine!
How it works
When you place your order (by phone only now, but online ordering is coming soon!), you’re given an approximate delivery time. The Meals In Motion team then contacts your restaurant or restaurants of choice to place the order, goes there to pick up your meal, puts your order in an insulated travel container to keep it hot or cold and then heads your way. Pretty simple, eh?
Hours, fees, delivery zones, etc.
If you’re interested in giving Meals In Motion a try, here’s when you can do just that:
Lunch delivery is available Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with phones opening at 9 a.m. Dinner delivery is available Monday through Saturday from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Sunday from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The minimum order amount to qualify for delivery is $10 before taxes and fees. This goes for both lunch and dinner orders. And there is also a nominal $4.99 delivery fee, which is nothing when you factor in the convenience and happiness factors that Meals In Motion brings to the table. Be sure to read the specific policies that apply for multiple restaurant orders and additional stops.
Each restaurant has an extensive menu created specifically for Meals In Motion that you can view on the Meals In Motion website. And while the Huffmans and their energetic team cover a large area of Memphis, they do (as do we all) have boundaries. The map below shows the area Meals In Motion serves.
SB TIP: Meals In Motion provides to its customers more laid-back family nights and relaxing lunch breaks. It’s truly a win-win-win for the Meals In Motion team, the local dining community and you!
