In case you haven’t heard, the Ironman Half-Triathlon will be making its way to Memphis, more specifically, Shelby Farms Park, on October 3, 2020.

Not only is Ironman coming to the 901, but it is also partnering with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, an organization that is near and dear to the city. Memphis is known for the St. Jude Memphis Marathon, which happens annually in December, but perhaps the city could be known for another big race as well.

The Ironman race is a 70.3-mile half-triathlon that includes a 1.2-mile swim, a 13.1-mile run and a 56-mile bike ride. Since the race is late in the season, they say that athletes can expect cooler weather, and even if you’re not participating in the race itself, there are still tons of things to do to keep yourself busy if you’re an out-of-towner. This endurance event will have a limited number of spots for St. Jude Heroes, and fundraising efforts support the families and patients at St. Jude.

Registration for this race opens on December 10, 2019, so be sure to mark your calendar! More details to come, but for now, we are excited for what this will bring to the Bluff City and to the kiddos at St. Jude!

See you on October 3, Memphis!
