Happy Holidays, Bluff City! To get you in the Christmas spirit, we’ve found some of the most fun, festive Memphis events happening around the 901 this month. From beautiful light displays to cheery visits with Santa, we’ve got something for every holiday lover. Attend one or attend them all — either way, we hope you have a holly jolly Christmas!
Get groovy at Christmas at Graceland.
Celebrate the season at Graceland! Enjoy events such as the Holiday Concert Weekend, which happens December 13 through 14. It includes concerts, tasty brunch and special evening tours, and it’s something you won’t want to miss! Can’t make it to the Concert Weekend? You can still see the mansion decorated with lights, Christmas decor and traditional red velvet drapes throughout the month.

Presented by International Paper, Starry Nights is a fun, family experience where you get to see beautiful lights and displays. While you’re there, stop by to see Santa Claus, visit their holiday gift shop and check out the petting zoo. Oh, and don’t forget to get some hot chocolate!

Step into a magical Enchanted Forest Festival of Trees
This annual festive Memphis event, benefiting Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, runs all December long at the Pink Palace Museum. Fun for family members of all ages, this winter wonderland brings the holiday season to life with its cast of animated characters in a snowy “Enchanted Forest.” Witness elves at work and penguins at play, and enjoy a special visit with a certain pink-cheeked, red-suited guest. The exhibit is open November 23 through December 31.
Ice skate at the Memphis Zoo
If you want an outdoor holiday experience, bring the family to the Memphis Zoo! With a display of holiday lights, ice skating and visits with Santa, there are plenty of things for everyone to do. The event runs from November 22 through December 30.
Shop local at WinterArts Holiday Market
Open through Christmas Eve, this holiday pop-up market offers unique, handcrafted pieces by regional fine artists. Here, you can score gifts for all sorts of people on your list. From jewelry, decor and kitchenware to clothing and art, all crafted from glass, metal, wood, fiber and clay, you’re sure to find something to delight. This annual event is hosted by ArtWorks Foundation, a nonprofit that helps artists grow in their business and their work, through exhibitions, education initiatives and other programming.
See the Nutcracker by Ballet Memphis
Talk about festive Memphis events — the Memphis Symphony Orchestra joins the Memphis Ballet at the Orpheum Theatre for this favorite holiday ballet. The Nutcracker takes us on a magical journey from Clara’s family Christmas party into a battle with the Mouse King, then into an enchanted land of sweets with her Nutcracker Prince. Performances are on Thursday, December 12, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, December 13, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, December 14, at 2 p.m. and 7:30, and Sunday, December 15, at 2 p.m. Tickets start at $25.
Holiday Wonders at Memphis Botanic Garden
Memphis Botanic Garden’s most anticipated event, Holiday Wonders, is opening on November 29 and runs through December 30. This year, they’ve added areas that offer varying themes such as Snowy Nights, Trees Alight, City of Memphis Christmas Tree and the TruGreen Under the Stars Outdoor Lounge. Take a walk through this magical light show with your friends and family to get in the Christmas spirit!
Have your picture taken with Santa at Shops of Saddle Creek
The North Pole of the Mid-South, also known as the Shops of Saddle Creek, is bringing you holiday cheer all season long with free photos with Santa! Party Town Booth will capture and provide a free digital and printed photo. While you’re there, you might as well knock out some Christmas shopping!
Watch A Christmas Carol at Theatre Memphis
Grab the family for this Memphis tradition, and enjoy A Christmas Carol at Theatre Memphis. The event will kick off on December 6 and run through December 23. The evening shows will begin at 7 p.m., matinees are at 3 p.m., and you can see the full schedule here.
