A wedding should be enjoyable and unique for each bride—full of laughter and excitement. Audrey Hurst provides brides and their families efficient and comprehensive planning with a sense of humor and composure that makes wedding design and planning a pleasure. Many of the tips Audrey shares with us today can be interpreted for any special occasion, as her main point is to keep the event simple and distinctive to make sure that sentiment is always center stage.
1) First, prioritize!
A bride and groom should determine 3 to 5 things that are most important to them. Is it a fabulous, unique menu? Stunning flowers? A fantastic band? Determining the aspects of your event that are most important frees you up to let professionals take care of other to-dos while you really focus on a few things to make them special.
2) Contract great vendors, and let them do their jobs.
Memphis has fantastic vendors. Hiring vendors who are professional, experienced and trustworthy gives brides the ability to share their vision and hopes, then let the experts handle it! This is the best way to keep wedding planning fun, creative and exciting without letting the preparation become too stressful.
3) Embrace your sentimental side.
Sentimental details don’t have to be over the top or elaborate. Little details make a wedding day even more special. Wear a grandmother’s ring or pair of earrings; serve a dish that you ate together on your first date; or use hymns that hold special memories and meaning.
4) Take a time out!
If possible, carve out 15 to 20 minutes of the celebration to spend time as bride and groom, a new Mr. and Mrs. It gives you just a second to chat with each other about your favorite part of the day so far, grab a bite to eat, share a toast and take a breath before dancing, mingling and celebrating the night away!
5) Think outside of the box.
Original ideas are usually some of the most memorable aspects of a wedding. Utilize the experience of a wedding planner as a sounding board for ideas. Some ideas aren’t feasible or might be too complicated. However, there are many ways to add interest to a reception that aren’t considered the norm but can still be done in a tastefully traditional way!
6) Remember what’s important.
Meticulous and thorough planning is the best way to prepare for a smooth and stress-free wedding day. Sometimes, however, planning can’t prevent bad weather, a broken zipper or a crying flower girl. When you accept that a small detail might not be perfect, remember that when you walk down the aisle as a married couple, it’s a success! All the other wonderful and thoughtful details that make up the celebration are, as the saying goes, icing on the cake.
