We’ve found three furniture stores that will help in your home decor search, all specializing in bringing one-of-a-kind pieces to Memphis at affordable prices. Chris and Neala Hester opened Frugal Home Finds four years ago. They ran the business out of their home for nearly three years before moving to their current location on the Highland Strip. Chris says they consider the shop an “extension of [their] home,” and it’s obvious that he really does mean it. The Hesters offer a carefully curated and always rotating stock of fabulous home goods at even more fabulous prices.

Frugal Home Finds receives a fresh shipment each week — an 18-wheeler packed with unique pieces. That means you never see two of the same item in the store. The Hesters receive closeouts, overstocks and minor imperfection pieces from high-end designer stores, and then they turn around to offer up these brand new items at unbeatable prices.
Chris sums it all up like this: “I guess you could say we’re kinda like a brick-and-mortar flash sale store.”
SB TIP: Search the shop head-to-toe to win one of the weekly scavenger hunts! The Hesters price one item each week at $1, and the steal is yours if you find it first!

Tom Nadeau founded Nadeau, whose tagline is Furniture With a Soul, in Southern California in 1991, with the idea that “great furniture should be attainable by everyone.” By sidestepping distribution centers and forming solid, sustainable relationships with its suppliers, Nadeau is able to offer affordable furniture that is unique and handmade.
Today, there are more than 25 Nadeau shops across the country. Nadeau Memphis (opened in March) is centrally located in East Memphis on Poplar Avenue between Erin Drive and Mendenhall Road, so you can pop in and out of the shop on your way to and from anywhere in the area. Laura Finley, Nadeau Memphis’ manager, says, “People need to know that we are wholesale shopping in a retail atmosphere. All of our furniture is imported from India and Indonesia and is handmade from solid, real woods.”
SB TIP: According to Laura Finley and the rest of the Nadeau Memphis staff, “If you love it, buy it!” Inventory turns over crazy-quick, so if you choose to “sleep on it,” the piece you love today may already be gone by tomorrow!
