Heather Ryniec, creator of HEATHER Cosmetics, has put together a transitional fall palette for everyone who is ready to get organized for fall and move on from their summer look. Heather was a former StyleBlueprint FACE of Memphis, and we welcome her back today for advice on how to customize our cosmetics for the approaching season.
The colors combined within this palette are suitable for all, no matter your skin tone or natural coloring. The mineral powder foundation and the application of each color may vary from person to person, but this set will accommodate everyone for the fall season. Begin to experiment with a modest use of these colors in late August and September; then dive in to a more dramatic look when the weather has turned cool and crisp.
Heather says that fall is the perfect season for incorporating a slightly more dramatic range of colors. Deeper shadows and rich lip tones pair well with fall’s fashion runway. A darker shade on the lips is appropriate as temperatures drop, especially at night. Be sure to try the smokey eye for this time of year as well.
While it is a good season to try richer, deeper color tones, proceed with caution when adding drama to your look. Heather always emphasizes subtle and natural looking beauty for every season. For the more adventurous, a bolder lip along with an equally rich eye palette may be fun to dabble with to a certain degree, but in most cases and for daily wear, play up one OR the other.
Heather’s shadows are creamy and blend well for ease of application and for creating unlimited combinations. In this suggested palette (below), Satin should be used all over the eye lid area; VIP and Celebrity will look great on the ball of the lid or in the lid crease; Emerald Forest will add a pop of color in the crease; and Starry Nights works as a soft liner.
In this palette (below), Baby’s Breath will typically be used as an all-over color; Downtown can be brushed across the ball of the lid or in the lid crease; Evergreen would more often be your crease color;and Mink is another soft liner choice.
Heather has narrowed down her selection of 100 lip shades to a grouping of six that would be ideal for transitional and fall months. One fun aside: There is no need to sharpen the lip crayons, just turn them, and you have a fresh-as-new crayon.
One indispensable product at Heather Cosmetics is her travel bag and brush set. It is the perfect size and comes with seven brushes. All of Heather’s brushes are made with synthetic fiber bristles due to recent conclusions that brushes made with animal hair bristles are porous and hold bacteria. The brushes come in all shapes and sizes, and even the travel-size brushes have full-size heads.
You can fit quite a bit into the side pocket of this handy set: a quad of shadows, a blush compact, a tube of lipstick and a gloss all in fit into this convenient pouch.
The bi-level compact is shown here with a bronzer and blush combination, but you can customize yours. Some clients put an applicator puff in the bottom compartment to go with their shade of foundation powder.
While it is fun to play with fall color, Heather reminds us that your number one cosmetic choice should always be skincare, especially at this time of year when we are coming out of the sun and into cool, dryer weather. Heather Cosmetics offers a complete range of extremely corrective skincare products in keeping with the latest recommendations from respected skincare professionals such as Dr. Oz.
Heather Cosmetics features eco-friendly methods. First, once you select a container such as a palette or bi-level compact, you only replace the individual colors as they run out. This is an environmentally friendly savings to the client. All products are paraben- and sulfate-free. The metal pans that hold her shadows and powders are recyclable and her largest customizable palette is made of recyclable heavy card stock. The handles to her brushes are made with wood from managed reforestation program, and all of her products are made in America.
