Spring is here, ladies, and it’s making its presence known everywhere. It’s time you make YOUR presence known, too, with a fresh new look. Here are five spring 2015 hairstyles demonstrated by stylist Whitney Everett Gicking of the Ryan Patrick Salon. No matter the texture, length or color of your hair, there’s a current trend to update your look.
ÉCAILLE COLOR
Last year’s ombré trend is being replaced in 2015 by the écaille technique. A tortoiseshell approach to color, écaille is a multitonal look much like the ombré, but slightly more sophisticated and without harsh lines.

BRAIDS
Braids are always in, but this year, they’re taking off in every direction. The options are endless, but these three creative braiding ideas—fishtail, waterfall and twisted crown—are examples of straightforward options that anyone can master.

LOW BUNS AND TWISTS
Simple, natural, low buns and twists are in, too. This relaxed updo might even be loosely shaped with a sprig of hair escaping here and there.

ACCESSORIES
Ornamentation for the hair—including scarves and hats—is big for spring. One easy, up-to-date hair accessory is the basic bobby pin, worn exposed and in various designs.

RETRO
Retro, traditional and classic: adjectives for a current hair trend that is especially popular in formal settings. Flip through any gallery of celeb looks and you’ll see throwback looks, timeless traditions and even a hint of Old Hollywood.
