Always the Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day (unless we are lucky enough to have it fall on the actual date) is the infamous St. Patrick’s Day parade in Louisville. Hosted by the Ancient Order of Hibernians, over 100 floats participated in this year’s event. It was a perfect sunny day to show your Irish Pride and, as you know, everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day.
The Parade runs down Bardstown road, from Broadway to Mid City Mall. This is convenient for watchers of all kinds, from the Irish bar goers to the more family friendly areas. This is always a family affair, with people bringing their children and pets to the parade. Parade watchers arrive early to stake their claim on the best spots on Bardstown Road.
Irish eyes were smiling this year, blessing us with perfect weather and unlimited sunshine. There were a lot of sunburned leprechauns at the end of the day. We cannot wait for next year!
