Louisville: Cabo Wabo

The 23rd Annual Cabo Wabo Winter Coat Party was January 9, and as usual, it was a rousing success. Guests always brave the elements to come to this party after the holidays, where they collect new and gently used coats for charity. This year the coats were donated to St. Vincent de Paul. The event also takes the net proceeds and donates to a charity. This year’s charity was Uspiritus, which is a merger between Bellewood Home for Children and Brooklawn Child & Family Services. It provides a comprehensive continuum of care serving children in Kentucky, offering services including therapeutic foster care, a family preservation program, residential treatment, community based services and independent living.

To date, Cabo Wabo has raised over a million dollars for charity and donated over 20,000 coats. What a wonderful charity!

It is for this reason that the guests keep coming back year after year, and this was the event’s 23rd year. Guests loved dancing to The Crashers and danced well into the night. Guests wore everything from jeans to fancy dresses; it is definitely a “come as you are” event. This winter event is always so much fun that they have a summer event as well. We can’t wait to come to that party.
